One way to make your fantasy pantheon feel weirder and more resonant with mythology is to make them more LOCAL. Gods cannot hear you if you're not at their specific shrine. Not all gods are known to you. Their blessings must be discovered. Not all gods are for you. Their worship is proscribed.

Neat idea! What if you were to flip it around and instead have a value for "energy" (alternatively; hope, motivation, focus, spirit, or capacity) that gets worn down by stressors. When it gets brought down to zero, your character becomes listless and needs to rest/indulge to recover.

I have this vague, shapeless idea that within a modern/cyberpunk city-based setting, "stress" should be a really big element. Or perhaps "stress" isn't the right word.
