The US owes the Pan-American Health Organization $135 million in past dues. Trump's budget proposal cuts funding for PAHO entirely, even though our contribution is 0.001% of federal spending. The result will be even weaker defenses agst measles, dengue & more. www.nytimes.com/2026/07/30/h...

The group of former health and national security officials warned that Americans will be more vulnerable to infectious disease threats.

Diseases don’t stop at borders. Pandemics, the climate crisis and conflicts demand a collective approach. The need for a science-led, evidence-based, impartial and globally representative health organization has never been greater. 80 years on, the @who.int constitution remains a living promise:

Why the need for the WHO has never been greater

I don't even know what to say. This is real, this is true, so, like, thank you all, from the bottom of my heart. This took over 25 years to happen so if there's any lesson here it's either "keep at it, who knows" or "many people are divorced"

image of a gold record superimposed on part of Vaughan Oliver's iconic cover for the Mountain Goats' "Tallahassee" album, with a banner beneath it showing the entire album cover, an RIAA seal, and the text: Presented to THE MOUNTAIN GOATS to commemorate the RIAA Gold certification of more than 500,000 copies of the 4AD single "No Children"

Anyway, you can say all you want that MAHA isn’t antivax, but all the big MAHA accounts are doing donuts in the parking lot because they found out Tony Fauci got a blood clot sometime in his life after he got the Moderna vaccine, so.

It’s interesting how irreconcilable but coexistent these three things are on here: (1) belief that journalism is vital and being killed by fascism, (2) belief that mainstream media is all actively participating in a secret fascist project, and (3) hanging out with MSM journalists on this website

Aaron Rodgers is talking shit about Tony Fauci, which raises an interesting possibility: could he beat the shit out of that old man in a cage match? The old man, to be clear, being Aaron Rodgers

One of the more frustrating legacies of 2020 is the idea that reporting risk factors for mortality is somehow always a slight against disabled and chronically ill people, as opposed to an essential piece of information for people in that category to assess their risk before *or after* they get sick

Breaking News: Two deaths in Michigan have been linked to cyclospora. Both people who had the parasite also had underlying health issues.

Inflammatory disorders can be brutal. I’d know personally (thanks vasculitis et al). But the misinformation, including on vaccines, is dangerous. A deep dive from me into how MAHA sped up the inflammation panic. New from me at @motherjones.com www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

The Great Inflammation panic

The wellness world's favorite buzzword has gone federal. For those of us with real inflammatory disorders, the misinformation isn't just annoying—it's harmful.

+1 to what @colincarlson.bsky.social said: the RFK interview is seen by the Right as a win. Bash grilled him, but there were lies that went unanswered/poorly refuted — making it look like to vaxhesitant or RW viewers like maybe RFK has a point (he doesn’t). THIS is the danger of platforming him.
