He’s pushed tariffs, cutting USA trade (which all economists know destroys economy), AND bashing NATO/UN (Russia’s #1 enemies) since Russia became his #1 financier in the 1990’s!
They should know that anybody who is harassing Katie Miller must be antifa and so a terrorist threat. I mean, who else would have a grudge against her?

NYPD should arrest the perpertrator(s), indict them and bring them to trial. Nothing Cornell decides about this should have any effect on the enforcement of the law.

If you don't know the problems that have arisen over time you don't know what to aim your technology at. If you don't know what's been tried you don't know what to avoid.

Mike Ross@eruptionchaser.bsky.social · 2d agoAm I missing something here? In what universe would an engineering student ever study history?! Do many history students study engineering?! I *enjoyed* history at school, and I was *good* at it. But no way would I ever have studied it at university.
The Humanities (History, literature, art,etc.) contain the wisdom acquired by humanity through the ages. I don't care how technically capable you are if you don't know about the bad things and good things that have been tried though time. You don't know what to use the science for.

Like people studied humanities because that was what a good citizen was. An educated person understood the classics, it was socially what you had to do, and self improvement
The name says it all. SlutCon. Women are expected to debase themselves against their better judgment in order to advance (or keep) their careers. This is workplace sexual harassment and is repellent. The point is not networking. It's sexual exploitation.

The purpose of SlutCon is to help ease men who are scared of approaching women, and for women who simply enjoy flirting to be in an environment where that happens a lot, since there's generally a dearth of that
At the same time, many - probably most! - women do Not want to be flirted with or propositioned by men they don't know. When a small scene only has a handful of large, well-known events, each one has disproportionate impact on everybody's ideas of acceptable behavior among other members of their milieu.
Attending the same events = specific shared context. Means
you're somewhat on the same page.
I suspect that the men who publicly raised concerns about SlutCon's impact on the scene are being megaphones for private objections and distresses they've heard from women in the scene who would NOT be comfortable at an event like that, but who don't voice it publicly because they suspect they'd suffer socially for doing so. That going to SlutCon to be flirted with gives women social cachet, and squirming at the idea means you're [not cool, can't get with the program, are probably a wokescold or a prude etc etc other pejoratives] and therefore, that you'll be excluded or held at a distance
Now, if this scene were purely a social scene, that'd be perfectly fine. Don't go to parties that don't suit you!! The issue arises because it's NOT purely a social scene. This scene is inarguably tied up with Al safety, research, and the SF tech scene in general.
When consistently being invited to the right parties is professionally advantageous, and when SlutCon itself **is** going to be an excellent networking opportunity for people in those fields, it's not neutral that {sexual proclivities} are the filtering mechanism that determines who's in the room. It means that promiscuity & forwardness is explicitly professionally advantageous.

I was at that rally. It was the 1st campus event for Dicky after Kent State. It was a Billy Graham Crusade. When the hundred of so of us who were protesting saw that every GOP candidate for office in TN was on the stage we decided that it wasn't a religious and got vocal.

By "biblical voice" she means voice of condemnation. There is much to lament about modern culture, but I'll guarantee she is not going to talk about those things, just the culture wars that they thrive on. Think about the log that is in your eye before you condemn the atom that is in another's.

Kremlev has deep ties to a group accused of helping abduct Ukrainian children. So why was he there, and why did he spend hundreds of thousands on the president’s son?
