Me: Today I would like to clean my appartment. Brain: What if we designed a Scooby Doo magic set. Me: ... Me: Yeah, that does sound like more fun.

Hi. I'm Fritz. I write about indie games, TCG's, and board/video game weirdness on https://gametrodon.com/ I also play a lot of MTG, and other card games. Co-Designer of Card City Critters.
Doing my every 4-5 years or so reread of Naruto. It's always so surprising to me how poorly the story works on a large scale, while being incredibly compelling on a micro-scale. As a serial, it's brilliant. As a piece of work... it just makes zero sense.
Ah pauper! A format of only commons. Surely this will be a relaxing break from stressful high power formats. (Several hours later, after losing to familiars, and playing a Balustrade Spy list where I ended the game with 75 life to force a draw) Ah, I see. I'm an idiot.
Another book review, because again, apparently I just read books now.
This Way Up: When Maps Go Wrong (And Why It Matters) - Book Review - Gametrodon
This Way Up is a book about maps by the incredible Map Men duo. The book itself though... the book is a bit of a mixed bag.

Book review, because I haven't playing as many games. gametrodon.com/brutal-kunni...
Brutal Kunnin - Book Review - Gametrodon
I don't like WH40K. I do like Orks. I'm going to blame this second fact for why I decided to quickly read Brutal Kunnin.

Ya’ll I went to bed 6 hours ago what do you mean the Dota 2 international is still GOING ON. What did I miss here.
It's called a "Casual Match", but there ain't nothing casual about some of these motherfuckers in the Duskblood playtest.
Assassination Classroom was a fun read, but I’m quite mixed about how the arcs of its villains resolve.
I won’t have anything to show this year, but I will try to make it down!

Every time I see “Smaug™” in a Magic the gathering email or message, I want to fight the marketing team. “It’s important that you know our world of fantasy and wonder IS OURS” feels like such an insecure move.
I wonder if the main gap in popularity of games between adults and children is more a time/money thing then a gameplay thing. As a kid/teen, I had comparatively a lot of time, but little money. As an adult, I have buy any game I want, but don’t have time to play them all…
Writeup on Dusk! I don't know that I have too much useful to say on it, but if you'd ever like to experience the inverse of zen, play through E2M6 with This Town by Niall Horan in the background.
Dusk - Gametrodon
I liked Dusk best when it's map design synergized with it's horror tone, and less when it made me fight invisible ghosts in underground mines.

I really wish I liked Sir, We Have An Orc Problem more then I do, but the way the incremental mechanics kinda overwhelmed the actual tower defense made it a bit of a loss for me.
Sir, We Have an Orc Problem - Gametrodon
Sir, We Have an Orc Problem has the bones of a solid tower defense. Unfortunately, those bones sit in a gelatinous cube of incremental game.

I generally avoid the board game discourse, but in light of recent public statements, I wish note that Loopin Louie is a board game.
Okay, so nostalgia is a drug for fools, and my life as an adult is better in almost every way then as a kid. BUT I really miss print versions of Shonen Jump. I miss the bigger format, I miss gettting an exciting package in the mail, I miss promo cards for games I didn't play, and even weird ads.
Anyone know a good draft pool simulator for Hobbit? (Draftsim is only opening 5 packs worth of cards, instead of six...)
Does anyone else who does semi-public facing game reviews find themselves struggling writing about games with defined/proven genres? I finished Dusk this afternoon, and I’m struggling on what to say as useful review/critique.

Something that's mildly fascinating to me is that I would have never clocked Deltarune as being New England/New Hampshirey.... because I've lived a majority of my life there the place/names just seem "correct". I always forget fall foliage isn't a world wide thing.
DELTARUNE TAKES PLACE IN MASSACHUSETTS I'M NOT LETTING ANYONE FORGET IT THIS IS THE ONLY THEORY THAT MATTERS!!!
For anyone more legal savy then me, and curious, lawyers seem to be a group named Zealous Advocates (www.z-advocates.com). The three lawyers listed on the complaint appear all be associated with them.

I went to the Maine Renn Faire, and it was cool, and also did you know Cheese Divination is a thing? Because I did not know it was a thing.
The Maine Renaissance Faire - Gametrodon
I went to the Maine Renaissance Faire, and while I did not eat a turkey leg, I did learn about divination via cheese.
