One day after the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and the National Association of Evangelicals came out against the Pentagon’s plan to livestream an execution, Pope Leo has published a tweet reiterating the Catholic Church’s opposition to the death penalty.

The death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person. The common good can be safeguarded and the requirements of justice can be met without recourse to capital punishment: effective systems of detention have been developed that protect citizens while at the same time do not completely deprive those who are guilty of the possibility of redemption.

NEW from me: The National Association of Evangelicals (along with several other religious groups) are now joining the USCCB in condemning Defense Sec. Pete Hegseth’s plans to publicly execute Nidal Malik Hasan, also saying doing so promotes a “culture of death.” religionnews.com/2026/10/09/h...

Right after Justice Kennedy retired, #SCOTUS materially shifted its Eighth Amendment jurisprudence, moving away from a test tied to "evolving standards of decency," and toward a static assessment of what was cruel and unusual in 1791. That shift will matter a *lot* if there's a challenge in Hasan.

Zacharia: "I am looking forward to walking in & working for President Trump. This job is not about me, it's about him... his policies are the most effective, most exciting. He's the most energetic, intense president we've ever seen. When I was there yesterday he showed me where the ballroom will be"

I regret to inform everyone that, I, too, did not receive a Nobel Peace Prize for accomplishments that exist only in my imagination. I ask for grace and understanding during this difficult time.

Are we actually talking Sanctions off Russia who is helping Iran. So basically we are funding Iran as we fight Iran. The sailors who just got off The USS Lincoln should be thrilled to find out they spent 7 months at sea to be betrayed after one day home!

SCOTUS unleashed Trump. Sotomayor’s dissent: “This new official-acts immunity ‘lies about like a loaded weapon’ for any President that wishes to place his own interests, his own political survival or his own financial gain above the interests of the Nation.” www.americaamerica.news/p/i-can-do-w...

“I Can Do Whatever I Want,” Trump Says. Not If We Do Our Job.

He told us who he was back in 2016. Finally, American voters can prove they believe him.

1) Putin doesn't have diesel to spare. 2) Diesel is cover for lifting sanctions. 3) Putin's statement sounds like he's offering an Iran escape hatch, which I've been predicting. 4) Half of the MASSIVE bribes Putin is offering now don't exist. 5) But he does mention security coop -- Kash.

Peter Navarro on a hot mic: "So, this shithead at the pool camera won't turn on the camera" (Shame C-SPAN didn't take more of this)
