Oregon just set a horrible new wildfire record: 2 million acres burned—and months left to go in fire season. I’m grateful to the firefighters and emergency personnel working through difficult conditions and will continue to fight for the federal resources Oregon needs.

Partial federal funding has been approved for the western portion of the Rowe Creek Fire Complex—but the eastern portions of the fire in Wheeler County still need help. I’m continuing to fight for the FEMA funding needed for all of Oregon’s major fires.

UPDATE: FEMA has approved support for the Rowe Creek Fire Complex West. I’m glad to see federal help on the way for firefighters who are working around the clock to protect Oregonians. I’ll continue to fight for the federal resources we need for the rest of the fires raging in Oregon.

The current wildfire situation in Oregon is the worst in the nation—but FEMA denied federal resources for the East Evans Creek Fire and the Rowe Creek Fire Complex. Oregonians deserve answers—and @wyden.senate.gov and I are pressing to get them.

Every child should have access to nutritious meals all year long, no matter where they live. I introduced the FORK Act with @salinas.house.gov and Rep. Mike Lawler to build on Umatilla Schools Superintendent Heidi Sipe’s work to keep students living in rural areas fed during the summer.

Medicare and Medicaid were created 61 years ago today—and have been a lifeline for folks in Oregon and across the country ever since. I’m fighting to restore health coverage to the millions who lost it because of Republicans’ Big, Ugly, Betrayal of a bill.

This is a five alarm fire: The Trump Administration is withholding Congressionally-approved funding and trying to cancel legal representation for 20,000 unaccompanied children—leaving them to face mass deportation alone. It’s wrong under every moral code.

Holding in my thoughts the families and loved ones of the American servicemembers killed in Iran, as well as the Iranian communities affected by Trump’s war of choice. I’m committed to ending Trump’s illegal war. It has cost us dearly.

Horrific. We need full accountability. Rogue, unidentifiable federal agents terrorizing our communities fostered the atmosphere where this type of assault was possible—and is just one reason why I’m fighting for a bill to require ICE to display ID.

The threat of wildfires is sending the dream of homeownership up in flames for millions of families as home insurance rates soar. I spoke with Oregonians about my new bill to help homeowners reduce wildfire risk and give insurers the confidence to lower rates.

The all-volunteer Idanha-Detroit Rural Fire Protection District offers Oregonians critical fire protection and emergency medical services. Thank you to everyone who is working long hours to keep our communities safe during a destructive wildfire season.

Great to visit to HCOM at Western University of Health Sciences! We need more qualified health care workers, and tomorrow’s osteopathic doctors are getting a world-class education right here in Oregon.

Horrific. These servicemembers made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our country in a war Trump started—and his Administration is erasing their deaths. Hard to put into words how craven and unacceptable that is.

Folks need insurance to buy a home in America, but fires fueled by climate chaos are driving home insurance rates sky high. I wrote a bill to tackle soaring costs, help keep communities safe from fires, and give insurers peace of mind to lower rates.
