A primer on Hungary’s electoral system. Hungary has a mixed-member pseudo proportional electoral system. 106 elected in first past the post constituencies 93 by proportional representation in closed lists 1/

Spoiler: *IN KEINEM BUNDESLAND DEUTSCHLANDS WÄHLEN 18-24-JÄHRIGE MÄNNER MEHR AfD ALS MÄNNER ZWISCHEN 35 UND 60.*

Also, may I say that I don’t agree with people saying ICE and CBP need “more training.” They’re doing exactly what this administration has trained them to—impose a reign of fear in blue cities. They don’t need more training. They need to be ripped up root and branch.

I missed this, from a year ago, but the extreme-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) uses not just clear Nazi aesthetics in its propaganda but also a clear Nazi salute. By the way, these are the German friends of Trump and the GOP.

The President of the United States just called for Democratic members of Congress to be executed. "HANG THEM", he posted. If you're a person of influence in this country and you haven't picked a side, maybe now would be the time to pick a fucking side.

This Thursday, we celebrate the retirement and work of Michael Minkenberg, one of the most underrated scholars of far-right politics. I will give an online keynote but there is also a great in-person panel with, among others, @andreapirro.it & @veghzsuzsanna.bsky.social Sign up here! 👇

Building on this theme, despite strenuous efforts by Right-leaning commentators to claim that the AfD is the party of German youth, in North Rhine Westphalia among under-25s it sits well behind the CDU, SPD, Hard Left Linke and the Greens Linke in particular are building momentum among young voters

Constantly amazed at the desperation to make “young men love Reform a thing”, despite all evidence to contrary

“Far-right leaders from across Europe will gather near Milan next week to promote 'remigration', a hardline plan to deport non-white immigrants and their descendants, regardless of citizenship, birthplace, or legal status.” (H/T @drmarina.bsky.social) www.euractiv.com/section/poli...

A rogues' gallery of extremists is expected to attend, but the exact location remains a secret.

The federal state of Saxony has just published first *register data* results from the German elections in 2025: These numbers show that young women overwhelmingly supported the LINKE (37%). Young men voted more strongly for the AfD (42%), but this is lower than among middle-aged men (50%).

Can anyone suggest a good, fairly recent German film about the immigrant experience or multiculturalism in Germany? Helpful if it’s available on Kanopy as well
