Swansea had the first sight of goal and kept probing, while Wrexham settled into keeping things tidy. Imray worked defensively down the right, Cleworth got involved around the box, and Hyam and Doyle kept the middle stubborn. Patterson was mostly being protected, which is generally preferable when he is, in fact, the goalkeeper.

Going forward, Callum O’Hare supplied the intrigue. Imray found him with a cross and his effort was blocked, then O’Hare kept finding pockets, drawing fouls and making himself an irritating little problem Swansea could not quite swat away.

After the break, Cleworth expanded his job description and set up Rathbone for a blocked effort. Then Matty James delivered for Doyle, whose header was blocked before his follow-up went wide. Midfielder supplying centre-back, centre-back trying twice to score. Completely normal behaviour.

The changes brought fresh nuisance. Kaboré found Windass twice for blocked efforts, while O’Hare kept earning free kicks and eventually drew the foul that put Cabango into the book. Slippery, persistent, mildly aggravating to everyone wearing white. Strong work from the new guy, obviously a graduate of the "make yourself impossible to ignore" school of thirst.

Then Patterson’s workload increased sharply. Swansea sent one at him from close range, another toward the top corner, and another from distance right at the end. He stopped all of them. Clean sheet and draw secured, pulse rates finally normalizing. Cleworth, Hyam and Doyle had helped keep the structure intact; Patterson applied the final padlock.

Moore even had one last go at nicking it with a shot from distance that forced a save, but the stalemate held.

And the write-ins? Parky after a difficult away draw was understandable managerial appreciation. And somebody brought pure extracurricular yearning to the assignment with the nod to James McClean. No match receipts. Just pure conviction. The Section’s research standards remain magnificently flexible. 🔥

Thirsties, this one was a masterclass in how little movement a man apparently needs to cause widespread administrative failure. He was caught between phases of play, body loose but ready, shoulders settled, chest open, arms hanging naturally at his sides, one leg planted forward while the other carried his weight. Nothing exaggerated, nothing posed. Just that unmistakable footballer balance where even standing still somehow looks athletic.

And the black away kit was doing outrageous work. The dark shirt sharpened the line through the shoulders and torso, while the shorts left the legs to make their own extremely persuasive argument. Thighs set, calves defined, stance wide enough to show the strength underneath it all, white boots providing the final bright punctuation mark. Compact, balanced, quietly powerful. The sort of physique built for twisting away from challenges, carrying the ball, absorbing contact and then immediately demanding it again.

Up top, the damp curls and slightly parted lips give the whole image that proper fully focused in-match look. It’s the combination of the black kit, the stance, the relaxed arms and that quietly composed presence that makes the picture land so hard. Just focus, athletic tension and an away kit apparently engineered in a laboratory to test the Section’s thirst emergency protocol.

This was the dangerous category of thirst where absolutely nothing theatrical was happening and yet somehow everything was happening. The background may as well have ceased to exist. Our attention had already been comprehensively detained by our number 17. 🔥

Thirsties, this one was absolute cinema. He was caught mid-knee-slide, body arched back in full celebration, chest lifted to the sky like the moment physically could not be contained. One hand was flung up to his ear, mouth wide open in a roar, and the whole pose had that glorious split-second mix of power, release, and pure "are you not entertained?" energy.

The red shirt was stretched clean across his torso as he leaned back, every line of the movement visible through the twist and extension of the celebration. Shoulders opened, core engaged, neck taut, the whole upper body committed to the drama of it. Nothing about this was static. It was all motion, all force, all adrenaline. A goal celebration with absolutely no interest in subtlety.

And then the lower half joined the performance. Those white shorts and socks were doing the Lord’s work while he slid across the turf on both knees, thighs engaged, hips driving forward, legs folded underneath him in that wonderfully theatrical footballer collapse into glory. The shine on the legs, the grass contact, the grounded power of the slide — it all made the image feel even more physical, like you could practically hear the roar and the scrape of the turf.

In short: this was not just a celebration. This was a full-body event. A red-and-white missile of joy, confidence, and beautifully committed athletic drama. The Thirst Section did not stand a chance. 🔥

Callum Doyle arrived in the box after Lewis O’Brien’s corner and buried the equaliser with his left foot, because apparently centre-back duties were not enough work for one afternoon. He had already teed up Ollie Rathbone for a blocked effort and later kept turning up in useful places, so the Section was given the full package: defending, roaming, scoring, and that deeply inconvenient habit of looking increasingly compelling the more involved he became. Someone even felt “Doyle. Hands down.” deserved to exist as its own separate declaration. The emphasis was necessary and noted.

O’Brien supplied the equaliser and had earlier dropped a cross directly onto Kieffer Moore’s head. Calm delivery, repeated danger, minimal fuss. Very much the energy of a man quietly arranging problems for Birmingham while looking entirely too composed about it.

Rathbone had his own effort blocked, then slipped Danny Imray in for a shot that forced a save. Busy, irritating, useful, permanently in somebody’s way. Ollie continued to operate like a compact little engine with absolutely no interest in personal space, and the Thirst Section remains extremely vulnerable to that particular form of industry.

Issa Kaboré came on, immediately started causing bother down the right, supplied Moore with another headed chance and won a free kick out wide. Efficient entrance. But apparently the football itself was insufficient evidence for certain members because "Kaboré’s lovely hair" also entered proceedings. The Section’s commitment to follicular scouting remains unmatched.

Meanwhile, Arthur Okonkwo somehow wandered into the conversation despite the match providing no on-pitch receipts for him. Some attachments apparently survive transfer window loans and probably several geological eras.

And then, beautifully, George Dobson’s ponytail made an appearance despite Dobson himself not doing so. That is the level of rigorous, evidence-adjacent scholarship we have come to expect from the Thirst Section.

Thirsties, the photographer has caught him mid-applause, still carrying the match in his body. Shoulders set, chest lifted, forearms working as his hands come together, the long sleeves somehow making the whole thing look even more unfairly put-together. There’s nothing posed about it. He’s walking, clapping, breathing hard, hair damp and pushed back, face still wearing that post-match concentration. The athleticism is doing all the talking.

And then we get to the lower half. Those white shorts are revealing exactly how much work has gone through the legs: thighs still engaged as he strides forward, one knee driving through, weight shifting onto the other leg, the whole frame caught between steps rather than politely standing still for the camera. Lean, balanced, compact, strong. Very much a body that has spent the evening tackling, carrying, covering ground and then casually wandering over to acknowledge the crowd as though the Thirst Section possesses normal blood pressure.

The applause is supposed to be for the supporters. Unfortunately, the visual evidence has reversed the transaction. We are now applauding him. Respectfully. Loudly. With absolutely no expectation of recovering our composure tonight. 🔥🥵
