Dear readers, I earn a little from my books but not my podcast or from sharing my work online. I do it because I love it, and people enjoy reading and listening to my small moments. Surviving as a creative is increasingly hard. Only if you can, support me here: patreon.com/MirandaKeeling ✍️ 🙏 ❤️

Early stroll. Lights on the old pit stack. I imagine that carpet of fallen leaves as a difficult jigsaw. A puddle the colour of printer ink. The horse and the cockerel as Vladimir and Estragon. Resting excavators.

With a proud smile, a barista in a café says, ‘Yes’ to my request to photograph what she tells me is her first attempt at a snail in the foam of someone’s coffee.

Snail art in coffee foam. The cup has a blue saucer.

October journal pages📓 Playing with collage, drawing, painting and washi-tape and seeing how it feels to embrace mistakes in our art sometimes. 💯 human-made, out of my comfort zone as a writer, and such fun! ✨🎨

A double page spread with my hand holding it open against a wooden floor: collage, paint, pen. Colours are blue, green, pink and brown.A double page spread with my hand holding it open against a wooden floor: drawing and writing. Colours are blue, green, yellow and brown.

I have a friend who is an A&E nurse and she told me once, 'The arts are so important. If you aren't out there making the world a better place then what are we patching people up in hospital for?' Whenever you doubt your (often difficult) choice to continue to be a creative person, remember that ❤️

For years I have been posting little observations online and for years, artists have been illustrating them - for no reason other than they wanted to respond. Below is a thread of some of these beautiful drawings because they should be seen 🧵 Art in this first post by Steve May. Words by me.

A drawing of the man in the words - his hair like a flame coming out behind his head: A man next to me on the Tube has a mane of red curls and the scent of the product used to tame them fills the carriage with vanilla and jasmine.

Me in the park: Lovely dog, how old is he? Woman: Actually it's his birthday today. He's one. Me: Oh that's nice (to the dog) Happy Birthday (to the woman) did he get anything? Woman: Yes. A trip to the vets.
