Oh GREAT, here comes Marx I was considering a Mirror ability color-alt as well, but the more I messed with it, the more it kinda just turned into vanilla Marx but his skin's a little bluer. Same with Beam ability overlapping with the Nova alt. I wonder how some of these in his true form would look.
Here comes the boy~ With so many color-regions relative to being such a simple design, BWD would be the #1 pick for 16 colors in this roster after Kirby himself imo because he's so dang nice to make color-alts for. Oh Air Riders, why do you make headwear get rid of his namesake? Let him wear both!!
Serve up some color-alts, chef. I never understood what the point of his vanilla-alt is when we were THIS close to just having Tougher version in base Air Riders! Frankly I'm surprised he has just enough to work with to avoid creative liberties, given that he wasn't ever playable until Star Allies.
Time for Rip-Roarin' Rick to get more colors! Rick was one of the earliest characters I tried to learn this process with, so I might want to give these another pass in the future. I'm also wondering: Does Stone-Cutter give any kind of unfair to-dark-to-read advantage? Noir Dedede exists, so I dunno.
What if Noir Dedede had more alt-colors in Air Riders?! There's no official render of him available at the same high-res as all the other Riders, so this guy was a pain in the ass to set up. Still, I'm happy that not only Dedede gets a trauma dumping-ground, but that said trauma looks great on Noir.
Another Air Riders newcomer I would've loved! Glunk and his perfect name and design. Holding a Charge Boost bends Glunk over to shoot long-range projectiles in front of him. A very low Offense stat makes them more annoying than threatening...until you catch him with the right build in City Trial.
Waddle Dee and new Air Riders alt-colors! He's a waddleful lad in a waddleful series. I'm back and forth whether or not I should've droped Key Dee to make a monochrome-alt to follow suit of all the other Dream Land 1 fellas getting one... At least it's not hard to picture if the people wanted one.
More Kirby Air Riders color-alts, more Gooey! I remember setting up his files for this was easier than most of the roster thanks to only having a whopping 4 color-regions to assign. I probably could've went even harder on the Void Termina alt, but best not to balloon this project's scope further.
I'll be back to giving color-alts for characters that actually exist in Kirby Air Riders soon enough, but for now, here's another newcomer I'd love: Drawcia! She has some of the worst Grip of the roster, but that slipperiness compliments her ability to draw lines whenever she's hold a Boost Charge!
Today's Air Riders alts go to...wait, this isn't an actual rider. Yup, the Mage Sisters are one of my most wanted newcomers, so I made alts for them too! I imagine they'd make for a fun stance-change character with Francisca having Offense, Flamberge having Turn and Zan Partizanne having Top Speed.
It's Knuckle Joe's turn for more color-alts! Y'know, for a Kirby enemy whose mainline appearances could still be counted on one hand, it's crazy how much Sakurai keeps pushing this guy as more than a mook between the Kirby anime, Smash Bros. and Air Riders. He's definitely got a good design, though!
Next up is the name you should know in Air Riders! Since Kirby already has 7 colors, he wasn't hard to figure out, but he does have the interesting challenge in having Specials tied to color. To the Green Kirbies who love having Crash--sorry. Hopefully the Shadow Kirby pick is more to your taste!
Today is Rocky! This heavy boi really deserved more color options in Air Riders, especially for how simple his design is relative to what we can squeeze out of it.
Next up is Waddle Doo, another favorite of mine. One thing this project made me appreciate is the many ways Kirby characters throughout the series have gotten a lot color-variants thanks to multiplayer features, harder versions of them or even hardware limitations. Waddle Doo's a great example.
I started on a project of drafting up more character-alts for Kirby Air Riders last year but didn't really do anything with it since it wasn't fully complete. So instead of letting the project quietly die out, I may as well show off what I made every now and then. To start, here's my guy: Starman!

It wasn't my favorite compared to what I've already played, but I get why people love this game and totally see how it would've been blown minds as a pre-Pokemon RPG with monster-collecting. If nothing else, I really like this game's story compared to the other DQs.
