Zionism was always about securing a Jewish state that de facto prioritises Jews over Arabs or other ethnicities. The racism was built in from the start but everyone excused it because Jewish safety was prioritised post Holocaust.
The first Zionists explicitly articulated themselves as colonialists. And colonialism is racism. So. You can do the math.
*The road to hell is paved with good intentions* I think there is confusion here on past and present tense. You talk of Zionism as an aspirational ideological theory, which I'm sure it was to many. But we've now seen it in practice and the reality of what Zionism actually entails. Racism.
Condemning the genocide without condemning Zionism is like condemning the Holocaust without condemning Nazism.
This is all understandable. But sadly Zionism has been coopted and perverted into violent racism of the worst kind with which it is now indelibly linked. Similar things happen to symbols like the once innocuous swastika. The blame rests on those who did the perverting, not those recoiling from it
Not long ago I saw the Israeli journalist Gideon Levy say "We can only deal with the Zionism we have." Do you think him insensitive? Unschooled? Forgetful of context? Unaffected by historic antisemitism? Why is he able to see clearly what the priorities are for public discourse and action?

What really winds me up about this is that no one is getting this angry about the gov actually providing ammunition and spy planes over Gaza. People are more upset about the motion than the actual mass murder of children and saying they'd rather vote Labour for a leader that supported the Iraq war
