I’m just trying to see if a new console generation is even warranted at this point. From an outsider/Nintendo POV, the Switch 2 was a necessary upgrade, but it really feels like the other two don’t need new hardware? They need games.

I’ve been playing through Digimon Story: Time Stranger since I beat P5R, and while I like the game, I’ve been finding that the environments have been a bit too busy. I find it tricky at times to figure out what the game wants me to find/do in a given area even with the glowing paint button.

I redacted the user info since I’m voicing a general grievance instead of trying to call any one person out. That being said, my own experience with desktop Linux has been relatively smooth until I have tried to install a software update.

An anonymized screenshot of a Bluesky post that reads “All arguments in favor of Windows over Linux are one of these:
1. Still need Photoshop or whatever (the valid one)
2. Based on decade-old info and/or jokes
3. Blaming issues with Linux on Linux users while treating the same issues on Windows as an unpleasant inevitability, like wasps or earthquakes”

From a technical standpoint, the OoT remake is very impressive. The fact the Zelda team was able to get that level of fidelity running a 60 FPS near-consistently is a testament to their tech art prowess, nobody’s doing that like Nintendo, likely due to how weak their hardware has been in the past.

I saw that Portal 2: Community Edition was open to the public for testing, so I played through to incinerator. It’s not bad! I’m less of a graphics snob than I thought I was, so the lighting changes aren’t groundbreaking for me, but the load time improvements are killer.

Two options here: Either I’m camping for a year with anthropomorphic, mostly chill animal people (if we count mobile games), or I’m spending a year in Japan while a bunch of cognitive mumbo-jumbo happens in the background. Not a bad set of choices tbh

You're offered $250,000,000 but to claim it you must enter the last video game you've played and stay there for a full year. How are y'all faring in this deal?

I don’t want to be “engaged with” by a company. I prefer digital games, and even I see this as a terrible decision. Like I posted before, $1,000+ for a box that maybe plays your digital PS5 games a bit better at launch just isn’t compelling…

"We’re going to cautiously move this forward" - Sony says it hears the PlayStation disc backlash but will continue its plans. CFO Lin Tao said its focus was on trying to "engage the gamers" in "the future digital ecosystem". www.videogameschronicle.com/news/were-go...

Okay, but what if I went live this evening with Splatoon Raiders… And, perhaps, friends? We’ll see. I’ve already played past the first dungeon-type level, so you’ll have to go elsewhere to see the beginning of the game

Heard there was a Raiders demo, but it’s kiosk-only? Hate that. I understand it for Switch 1 games to avoid datamining, but no exploit has been made public for Switch 2 yet, so that concern doesn’t really apply. If you have a demo, why not put it on the eShop?
