This was a lovely surprise when I opened the paper this morning. Of everything I post on socials, I certainly wouldn't have guessed it'd be my Father's Day video that would end up in @boltonnews.bsky.social I'll have to let him know about his new-found fame!
My statement on the prime minister’s resignation as leader of the Labour Party:
This Father’s Day, I want to pay tribute to my dad and my grandfather who have both played a major part in helping me achieve my goals and ambitions. Watch the full video here: www.facebook.com/share/v/1aip... And a very Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there 🩵
What a performance!! And here I was nervous as anything after the last time we went up against Croatia 😅 Well done lads! ⚽️🏴
Very proud of my friend Jess for taking this action 🤍
Today, I’m launching a High Court claim against xAI, the company behind Grok. I am just one of thousands of women and even children who have been the victim of abusive and sexualised AI deepfakes. This should never have happened – and xAI must be held accountable. www.mirror.co.uk/news/politic...
Wishing all Muslims here in Bolton, and around the world, a happy and peaceful Eid Al-Adha. Eid Mubarak 🌙
I don’t like to comment on Westminster dramas. I want our focus to be on delivering change for our constituents and our country. However, lots of Bolton residents have been asking about my thoughts on the country’s leadership this week.
The election results are bitterly disappointing, and voters have sent us an important message which we have to acknowledge. We have lost some fantastic, experienced councillors and I want to thank them for their dedication to our town and communities over many years.
What new laws have been passed since the election in a nutshell 👇
Out in Halliwell with Councillor Safwaan Patel who is up for re-election this Thursday. Our Labour councillors are working hard delivering for their communities. Don’t be the reason that ends. Vote Labour this Thursday 7 May 🌹
As someone whose route into politics started following an employment dispute, I’m always proud to stand with workers fighting for fair pay, secure jobs and dignity at work. #InternationalWorkersDay
Everyone, no matter their background, needs a safe and stable home to build a healthy life. With the Renters’ Rights Act, we’ve seen what is possible when renters and housing campaigners come together and fight for change 👇 england.shelter.org.uk/housing_advi...
Great to be out on the doors for Cllr Nick Peel and back doing visits in and around Bolton North East ahead of local elections on 7 May! 🌹
Every week I come back to the constituency office, my lovely constituents remind me why I have to leave my 3yo son behind every week, work all kinds of hours, and why I absolutely love my job. These tokens of gratitude help keep us going, and I’m always blown away by your generosity.
Wishing fellow Sikhs around the world a very happy Vaisakhi 🧡 A time to celebrate bravery, courage and community 🙏
Wishing a joyful and meaningful Passover to all of my constituents who are celebrating 🩵 Chag Sameach!
It’s been great being back out on the doors with the Labour team for Councillor Nick Peel in Tonge with The Haulgh 🌹 Local elections are just around the corner! Make sure you’re registered to vote by 20th April! 🗳️
I’m passionate about housing and know from my time as an MP so far just how much of a difference it will make if we can get this right. Read more below 👇🏼
“We must consider not only how many homes we build, but what we build – and for whom” To build stronger communities, the government needs new council houses, writes @kirithentwistle.bsky.social fabians.org.uk/public-good/

Eid Mubarak to all those who celebrated last night, and to those celebrating today! 🌙 Bolton is a diverse town and I am proud to champion that diversity. I will never late hate and division win. with warm wishes, Kirith ✨
Happy International Women’s Day! The theme this year is ‘Give to Gain’ and whilst we’ve made some progress since women first got the right to vote, we have a long way to go and are seeing our rights eroded elsewhere. Here’s a reminder of what we’ve been through to get this far:
Today, on Holocaust Memorial Day, we honour those who were murdered during the Holocaust and pay tribute to the vital work of Holocaust survivors who educate young people today. We stand against hate, and strive to deliver a better future.
This is welcome news.
At the heart of our changes to the justice system is bolstering protections for victims. We are announcing plans to ensure all victims get free access to sentencing transcripts. An important win for brilliant victim groups campaigners @dailymirrornews.bsky.social www.mirror.co.uk/news/politic...
Wishing all those in the Punjabi community in Bolton and across the world a very happy Lohri today 🔥 ✨ A reminder to celebrate the triumph of light over darkness and new beginnings 🎉
It’s International Day of Persons with Disabilities! And this month is also Disability History Month. We can all play a role to build a more inclusive, accessible society and I’m committed to always doing my part. Thanks to Scope for hosting a great event in Parliament today.
A huge win and a great announcement from the Government today!
🚨CAMPAIGN WIN 🚨 Today the Government has announced they’ll restrict the use of victim’s ‘bad character’ evidence in rape cases.
