I don’t like to comment on Westminster dramas. I want our focus to be on delivering change for our constituents and our country. However, lots of Bolton residents have been asking about my thoughts on the country’s leadership this week.

The election results are bitterly disappointing, and voters have sent us an important message which we have to acknowledge. We have lost some fantastic, experienced councillors and I want to thank them for their dedication to our town and communities over many years.

Out in Halliwell with Councillor Safwaan Patel who is up for re-election this Thursday. Our Labour councillors are working hard delivering for their communities. Don’t be the reason that ends. Vote Labour this Thursday 7 May 🌹

Every week I come back to the constituency office, my lovely constituents remind me why I have to leave my 3yo son behind every week, work all kinds of hours, and why I absolutely love my job. These tokens of gratitude help keep us going, and I’m always blown away by your generosity.

It’s been great being back out on the doors with the Labour team for Councillor Nick Peel in Tonge with The Haulgh 🌹 Local elections are just around the corner! Make sure you’re registered to vote by 20th April! 🗳️

Happy International Women’s Day! The theme this year is ‘Give to Gain’ and whilst we’ve made some progress since women first got the right to vote, we have a long way to go and are seeing our rights eroded elsewhere. Here’s a reminder of what we’ve been through to get this far:

Today, on Holocaust Memorial Day, we honour those who were murdered during the Holocaust and pay tribute to the vital work of Holocaust survivors who educate young people today. We stand against hate, and strive to deliver a better future.

It’s International Day of Persons with Disabilities! And this month is also Disability History Month. We can all play a role to build a more inclusive, accessible society and I’m committed to always doing my part. Thanks to Scope for hosting a great event in Parliament today.
