Begging national pundits to stop making broad pronouncements on local elections from a few viral clips (Hong's campaign was, in practice, more focused on joy and community than any I'd ever experienced). This is from @amandamarcotte.bsky.social but I'm seeing it in lots of places.
Sort of related to this, here's what it felt like to be a Hong supporter in Wisconsin. 11 months: "WHAT A BLAST! We never expected Hong to do this well." 1 week: I mean, sure, those interviews could've been better but WAIT, IS THIS REALLY WHAT'S FRYING EVERYBODY'S BRAINS?

AES on gender is a fascinating "two things true at once" situation. He's done a legit great job (at multiple points) of reframing the masculinity convo AND it's still worth asking whether people are more willing to hear it now bc its delivered by a dude in a tight shirt who lifts (unlike in '18).

Garrett Bucks@garrettbucks.bsky.social · 3mo agoAlready pre-exhuasted by the amount of electoral takes that my state (WI) is going to weather next week, and have to say: it's so weird how people who think about politics all the time talk about voters. Most voters don't see themselves in a weird life-or-death battle between centrism and leftism!
Re: Wisconsin. If you don’t vote here, I don’t pay any attention to your opinions on our state/local elections. (Federal is fair game IMO.)

If you don't actually organize, but just love being smart and right online, shut up! My neighbors don't exist to prove your pet theory of politics!
