In 1936, "Buzz" Windrip runs a US presidential election campaign promising each citizen $5,000 per year. He wins the election, and of course, the money is never paid. See also Trump. It’s a bribe. Is he acting out this novel?

Heddiw / today - at the Between the Trees festival at 1pm.
I’ve been reading this excellent report that was commissioned by Plaid Cymru’s Sian Gwenllian MS. It’s authored by Prof Karel Williams of Manchester University and his team at FERL (Foundational Economy Research Ltd), on the small business & social enterprises in Gwynedd. Article in comments.
This is an important thread regarding those disputed claims about Jason Arday’s marathon achievements. The evidence has clearly been ignored.
One of the first "outrageous" claims I saw as Jason Arday's media hounding unfolded was that he ran 30 marathons in 35 days! Wow! What a thing to claim! And the newspapers all suggested there was no evidence he actually did it. Well, they clearly didn't look very hard 🙄 🧵 1/26
Genuinely shocked and disturbed by the way in which some people are commenting about this over on Facebook. What has happened to empathy & recognition of the impact of bullying? What kind of society are we becoming? How can we learn from this and make it stop? m.facebook.com/story.php?st...

Remembering the Rhondda anti fascists - the Battle of De Winton Fields
You will have heard of the Battle of Cable Street, where Oswald Mosely’s British Union of Facists (BUF) were stopped from marching down a street with numerous Jewish businesses and homes.

Wales has a strong tradition of communitarianism that has been taken for granted and not really built upon. Time to return to it as @leannewood.bsky.social & Beth Winter have been doing. Best protection from extremism.
What did we find? 1. Appeals to communitarianism worked best to reduce support for violent extremism + was most resistant to counter-messaging 2. Surprisingly, we find that a religious message was not especially effective 3. Nor was a "tough" message that emphasized the dangers/costs of terrorism

RefUK insist they aren’t racist and aren’t part of a wider far right movement. Yet here we are. Here is an England 2025 mayoral RefUK candidate.
In my latest piece on substack, I take a look at Plaid Cymru’s proposals on ownership & community wealth building. substack.com/@leannecymru...
