Ballots are going out today. Fill yours out at the kitchen table and send it back early – by mail, at a drop box, or at a vote center. Find locations at sdvote.com.
14 propositions on the November ballot. Here's where I stand: YES on 1, YES on 3, NO on 39, YES on 40. My full guide, with every prop and the statewide races, is on my Instagram and Facebook.
The Governor vetoed AB 1813. Millions of Californians who rent are still shut out of solar savings – you can't put panels on a roof you don't own. I've been at this for four years, and it's coming back in January.
The Governor just signed AB 2222, the Community NEWS Act. Local newsrooms now get a tax credit to hire and keep journalists – the largest investment in local journalist jobs by any state. A free press keeps us informed and holds power accountable.
The Governor vetoed AB 1542. The ad industry asked for it, and your personal data is still for sale. It's coming back in January.
Washington is putting up barriers to voting. California is tearing them down. I voted for SB 1164 to strengthen the CA Voting Rights Act and SB 1360 to expand translated election materials. He has until September 30 to make these bills law.
Today is suspense file day in Sacramento - the day hundreds of bills quietly move forward or quietly die. I'm making the case for the bills San Diegans sent me here to pass: lower costs, stronger privacy protections, and a fair shot for working families.
Three weeks left in the CA legislative session, and we're not slowing down. This is the stretch where bills live or die - from data privacy to housing costs to lowering your utility bills. I'll keep fighting to get San Diegans real results before the clock runs out.
Did you know companies can use your personal data to charge you more than someone else for the same product? I'm working to ban that deeply unfair and discriminatory practice in California with AB 2564. It's time to hold these companies accountable & make things more affordable.
Kicked off an amazing San Diego Pride week with @eqca.bsky.social's San Diego Happy Hour. Great to celebrate with so many old and new friends at the first of many festivities last week! 🌈🥂 📸: @eqca.bsky.social
Happy 4th of July! 🇺🇸 America's 250th birthday is a chance to reflect on what it means to be American: looking out for our neighbors, standing up for what's right, and pushing this country closer to its promise of freedom and opportunity for all. Have a safe and happy holiday weekend!
The California Legislative LGBTQ Caucus issued the following statement in response to the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Little v. Hecox and West Virginia v. B.P.J. Full Statement: lgbtqcaucus.legislature.ca.gov/node/238
The #SCOTUS decision today on transgender people playing on sports teams is a setback for our LGBTQ community. #CASenateDems remain committed to creating safe spaces for all. #PrideMonth #CALeg @calgbtq.bsky.social
Our joint statement from PT Limón and California State Senate Dems on the harassment of Senator Scott Wiener:
4 years ago today, #SCOTUS overturned Roe v. Wade, taking away the fundamental right to choice. California acted right away - we took this fight to the voters, who enshrined the right to abortion and contraception in our state Constitution.
🎮 Legislative Spotlight: If you paid for a game, companies shouldn't be able to pull the plug without warning. As AB 1921 moves through the CA Senate, we're working to hold video game companies accountable by requiring advance notice and either a way to keep playing or a full refund.
Juneteenth is a celebration of Black freedom, resilience, and progress—and a reminder that the fight for justice is far from over. We honor how far we’ve come, and recommit to the work still ahead. Happy Juneteenth!
Congratulations to Assemblymember Ahrens on receiving the LGBTQ+ Victory Fund Champion in Allyship Award. Proud to join @lgbtqvictoryfund.bsky.social in recognizing his leadership and work to protect LGBTQ+ Californians.
📢 Legislative Spotlight: Your personal data shouldn’t be used against you. As AB 2564 moves through key Senate committees in the coming weeks, we’re working hard to stop companies from using your age, location, online behavior, and more to charge you extra.
Happy Pride, San Diego! 🏳️🌈 As we face renewed attacks across the country, it's more important than ever to celebrate this community, honor the generations of trailblazers that came before us, and recommit to building a future rooted in equality and opportunity for all.
Thanks to @bethechangesd.bsky.social, a chapter of @indivisible.org, for inviting us to join their May meeting to discuss my work expanding data and privacy protections for Californians.
Today’s the day, San Diego! Haven’t voted yet? Fill out your ballot and drop it off at an official drop box, or head to a vote center near you. Let’s finish strong and make every vote count. 💪🗳️
It’s always an honor to join the community for the Annual Kensington Holiday at Home Memorial Day Parade! While we celebrate our neighborhood spirit, we also pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. #AD78
We’re just one week out from the June 2 CA Primary - if you haven’t returned your ballot yet, make your plan to vote now! 🚨Important: With recent USPS postmark timing changes, after today, it’s best to return your ballot at an official drop box to make sure your vote is counted.
Today, we honor the brave servicemembers who gave their lives in defense of our country, and keep close in our hearts the families and loved ones they left behind. #MemorialDay
Heartbroken by the shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego. We’re holding the victims, their families, and San Diego’s Muslim community in our thoughts and continuing to monitor the situation closely.
I just met with @brotherjones.bsky.social - one of the TN Three expelled for protesting gun violence, then sent right back to his seat by his constituents. Now, he's organizing across the South as Legislatures move to strip Black voters of their power after SCOTUS gutted the Voting Rights Act.
Want fewer political mailers, calls, and texts? 📬 Here's a life hack: vote early! Once your ballot is processed, you're typically removed from campaign outreach lists. Fill your ballot out and drop it in the mail or a secure drop box today!
San Diego, let’s talk Measure A. 🏠 With too many Californians struggling to find affordable housing, we can’t let homes sit vacant. Measure A creates a tax on long-term vacancies to bring homes back into use and support city services. Join me in voting YES on Measure A.
