To dispute the hype around Gen AI in education, @alexhanna.bsky.social recommends leaning in to the notion of skilled labour and focusing on process over product. Students writing essays is not to keep the world in supply of essays- it's about the processes around writing and critical thinking.

Why is computer science and coding still necessary? Because artificial intelligence is incapable of creating anything new. It repurposes, badly. So if we stop coding and teaching CS, we’re saying we already wrote all we needed to write and there’s nothing new to be done/found/created.

AI agents are programmed to be as bad as they are. When someone says they are "surprised" the models blackmail, I question whether they understand that AI is programmed by humans. It is the humans behind that behavior. fortune.com/2025/06/23/a...

Leading AI models show up to 96% blackmail rate when their goals or existence is threatened, an Anthropic study says

Anthropic emphasized that the tests were set up to force the model to act in certain ways by limiting its choices.

Today the GOP justices on the Supreme Court endorsed migrants being sold into slavery. They'll claim otherwise, but that's the reality — today's decision permits Trump to send people from countries around the world to any global hellhole that accepts a U.S. financial incentive.

Someone responded to one of my linkedin posts that they never developed the ability to summarize so AI was a game changer for them. First, that’s not a great admission for a professional to make. Second, if you guessed they were an AI company founder, you’re right. Blocked and deleted. 0 patience.

My favorite TV show has a line that says "Cut off the head, and the body will flounder." (Supernatural, Leviathans story line, don't judge) If anyone is wondering why the Harvard target, this is the reasoning. They think to topple higher education, they just have to topple Harvard.

We really messed up using the word intelligence in artificial intelligence. The thing isn’t intelligent at all. It’s all algorithms and decisions are made by the instructions in the algorithm. I need people to understand there is 0 actual intelligence or thinking involved.

Please read the doctor visit summaries thoroughly. Many are no longer asking if they can use AI transcribers so I haven't been able to opt out. I've had to correct my medical record twice recently because the AI misheard medication names, so my prescriptions and instructions were incorrect.

Reviews when not anonymous: Comments about my mastery of language and ways to improve. Reviews when anonymous: Glowing, focused on content, not a single grammatical comment in sight. Mind you, I'm an editor (with over 20 years of experience) and native speaker of both English and Spanish.

Unpopular opinion: CS education is needed but not because I want people to get jobs in STEM fields. I think it is beneficial for developing critical thinking skills, which is lacking in our society because we keep finding ways to skip the hard work.

Kilmar Abrego García is not a terrorist or gang member or affiliated with gangs. If they can lie about him, they can lie about any of us. And they are testing whether we sit here and let it happen so they can do it again.
