I am hearing this from many program officers, but NIH has yet to make an official statement to my knowledge.
Not sure I’m thrilled about an IC Director being appointed for being famously wrong about a major health concern under the domain of the IC in question.

so much I wanted to quote here about why we as scientists seem to find ourselves in this current political situation: “When and why powerful and wealthy outsiders chose to pluck scholars and ideas from obscurity should be of key concern to those of us interested in the independence of science.”
