Congressman for California's 36th District. Vice Chair of the House Democratic Caucus. Air Force Vet.

It’s been six months since trump started his war on Iran. Since then, American servicemembers have lost their lives, hard-working families have struggled with rising costs, and we’re burning through defensive munitions way faster than we can replace them.

trump's to do list: ✅ start an illegal war ✅ start an unnecessary trade war with one of our closest allies ✅ slap his name on an airport ❌ address the cost of living emergency

It is unacceptable that a 4-year-old child can be turned away from a publicly-funded preschool program because of who they or their parents are. Pleased to support @equality.house.gov's effort to protect children and their parents from this disgusting display of discrimination.

Over 15,000 veterans have lost their homes since trump destroyed the Veterans Affairs Servicing Purchase program in 2025. Democratic amendments offered in Committee would have reversed these devastating cuts. Republicans blocked them.

Honored to secure federal funding that will allow the City of Redondo Beach to lease affordable housing to those facing housing insecurity.  Democrats will continue to invest in community-driven solutions to combat homelessness.

While powerful AI systems have many potential benefits, they can also go rogue, behave in extremely dangerous ways, or even resist human intervention. We need to keep human control by ensuring AI systems can be completely shut down if necessary.
