Help, #reader friends! When you’re casually checking out online book reviews to figure out what to buy/borrow, what info are you looking for?? What helps you decide what’s right for you?

GHOUL SUMMER is out today! 🎉 This middle grade cozy/spooky ghost story is my eighth published novel (in 3.25 years 🤯😫, so thank you for still following me online despite all this pestering)

What I've also noticed is that for some works, the publishers are filing so late/down-to-the-wire that the Effective Date of Registration falls outside of that 3-month period that affects your remedies, so THAT'S COOL

The worst part of writing this thread is discovering that I was very wrong in stating that US publishers probably filed copyright for you, because whew I have seen some big names get called out as not filing copyright.

It is so weird to be promoting a book written from a place of hope and reliance on the strength of community when *waves at everything* shows us that plenty of people are okay being the villains of the story

#kidlit friends, I'm gearing up for the release of another middle grade book and I've been burned by very-low-attendance launch events before. Any ideas on how to best celebrate this latest milestone? Best days/times/activities for middle grade events?

Spiraling about what’s happening on the national stage, but it got me thinking about defeat and resilience and how we explain all of this to kids Not to spoil my own book, but I purposefully chose the not-so-great outcome for the characters’ efforts in GHOUL SUMMER.

And to answer “what’s next,” I am going to attempt to write/sell something new, then gear up for my next middle grade book (and last one under contract) GHOUL SUMMER! It’s out in September, which seems both far away and very, very close #kidlitchat

TOPIC: We have a tradition here at #kidlitchat of checking in every quarter to share what we've been up to, career-wise. What have your past three months been like, and what's next? (Plans, daydreams and false starts are totally valid responses!)

So excited to actually make it to #kidlitchat! My past 3 months have been CHAOS, with a book out (Their Just Desserts, with Alechia Dow!) and transitioning away from a federal job I love to the full-time writing. Any tips on making the full-time-writing thing work are welcome!

If you’re in the SoCal area, my library system is unveiling our Filipino American Cultural Heritage Collection this Saturday, May 31! We’ve been working on it for 2 years, and have acquired books, movies, and cds in multiple Philippine dialects, along with some cultural art pieces. #library #booksky
