In this study led by brilliant former PhD student Thomas Sabaté we use live cell microscopy and polymer simulations to characterize how DNA loops and TADs form in human cells by cohesin-driven extrusion. We took advantage of an online survey conducted during the Covid-19 crisis (ComCor), which yielded a data set of millions of words, with ground-truth labels for each individual. We propose that like-minded methods may speed up our understanding of future pandemics and public health responses. 2/n
