Software and product management guy. Cloud Native, API and reformed service mesh guy, I guess. Dad. Husband. Oaktowner. I work at Nutanix, but this is my feed, not theirs.

It was a long talk with @kelseyhightower.com that got me to move from Mastodon and to delete my (then dormant) X account. He convinced me that AT and Bluesky were the right combination of technology and stewardship. My opinion: ANYONE posting on X is supporting Musk (by donating content).

Twitter died a long time ago and X isn't worth it. Before I made the jump, my ego was holding me back. I was too concerned with vanity metrics. I finally realized if you're posting stuff people want to follow, then they'll follow you, even when you leave. www.siliconrepublic.com/enterprise/k...

Illustration celebrating farm workers with three smiling farm worker figures in colorful attire. Text in Spanish reads "Feliz Día de Apreciación de los Campesinos." The background includes green vertical lines and a red circle with anUFW eagle logo at the top right, conveying gratitude and celebration.

I was 14 and had been hit by a car. I had a bad, compound fracture of the tibia but sat in the emergency room for hours while they located my parents. When they finally did (and they signed off on surgery), a doctor said "We need to hurry because if the bone is infected we'll have to amputate."

A question from Reddit that I'll answer here: "What's the most unhinged thing a doctor has said to you with a straight face?"

Watching Terminator 2 with my 14-year-old son in the age of AI is really putting it in perspective. What's striking (and seems so unrealistic at this moment) is how willing Miles Dyson was to come around to the danger of the tools he was creating.

I first knew @ghoulpus.bsky.social from xer tech talks. But I have LOVED xer move into fiction and fantasy writing. Preorder xer latest story here. Can't wait to read the story, and check out that cover! Real art, created by real people!
