Won’t go back and grab the video of it, but Luis Peña appeared to potentially break his ankle stealing third base in Biloxi. Ankle was put in an air cast and he was carted off, wiping away tears…

July observations are out on the Backfield Brew Patreon I focused on Leanders Matos, Daniel Dickinson, Diustin Mayorquin and Raymond Sarmiento this time around. Below is some video of all 9 strikeouts Mayorquin has recorded since he was promoted to Low-A. Link: www.patreon.com/BackfieldBre...

Bit of a surprise here, but Maiorana signed for $230,800 Really talented arm already up to 96 MPH with a 3000 RPM sweeper
No Knaak signing, and Carson Hart for $380k means the most the Brewers could offer any of the 14-16 round picks remaining is $235,875. We will see if that is enough to get any of them done. My guess is that Havard is the one they might still have a shot to sign.

Bad development for the Brewers: Fifth-rounder Aidan Knaak appears set to return to Clemson, meaning the Brewers lose the player and the $425,400 slot bonus that goes with him. Not sure anyone saw that coming. www.theclemsoninsider.com/2026/07/27/m...

Rd 5 & 6 deep dive is up on Patreon now. Focused on Aidan Knaak & Ryan Oshinskie. Two filthy changeups between them. Despite rehabbing TJS right now, I rank Oshinskie a bit higher than Knaak, due to better non-CH secondaries, but both are interesting profiles. Link: www.patreon.com/BackfieldBre...

The Rd 3/4 deep dive on Jones/Garcia is up on Patreon. It’s in the post, but I think there’s a very real chance Julian Garcia winds up being the best player in the class. The more I look into this pick, the more I love it. Video from Garcia’s 14 K, CGSO in the CA Southern Section Championship

A deep dive on Trey Ebel and Sawyer Strosnider is up on Patreon! 3rd & 4th rounders, Kyle Jones & Julian Garcia, are coming soon. Then I'll keep making my way through the draft, hopefully with an idea of who is/isn't signing by the time I start to get to 11-20 Link: www.patreon.com/BackfieldBre...

Thread on Day 2 picks so far: Some recent video from Aidan Knaak here. 4FB and CH are very interesting, changeup is probably plus. SL/CV have decent shapes but doesn’t spin them super well. He had a down year this year, I’d assume the Brewers are viewing this as an interesting buy-low
Still 11/18 fits available (2/7 picked were Brewers' picks) as we head into Day 2 in a few minutes. I am assuming Archer Horn is heading to college now, though. Some other names I like as potential Brewers fits, and just players I am generally a fan of, beyond those in the post.
The MLB Draft is less than two weeks away, and on Patreon I just put up a post breaking down 18 players that I think are good fits for the Brewers in this draft, with the range I think they'll go in, and write-ups and video for all of them. ($) www.patreon.com/BackfieldBre...
I love the Julian Garcia pick. 4S has good carry and life and velo was popping 97 a year removed from TJS. Only 18.3 yrs old. CH is the best secondary for me, but the CV is pretty intriguing too and sharpened up as the season went on. Could be a legit 3 pitch mix.
Kyle Jones is a really good athlete (70 runner most likely) with the potential for plus center field defense. The bat is a question mark. If they can get the hit tool to average or better he gets pretty interesting. He has some feel for getting the ball in the air to his pull side.
2/2 on fits with these first two picks. Just in the opposite order of what I would have expected!
This post is now free for everyone by the way. But here’s my write-up on Trey Ebel as a fit for the Brewers
