Are the many “Intellectual Freedom Centers” being placed on college campuses nationwide really just mandatory ideological indoctrination centers? 🤔 #AcademicSky

The implicit “problem” these white papers are dealing with is the TAs’ success at winning a favorable employment contract. The “solution” these white papers propose is to divest from reliance on grad students as teachers. Instead, we’ll use AI, undergrads, and anyone else we can exploit.

It would be bad enough if this was all she voted for, but the bill literally also has a provision to strip school funding from any school that has books with trans characters, has policies protecting trans students, performs shakespeare’s 12th night, or even has a trans teacher.

It must be emphasized that we need powerful, robust ACADEMIC history IN universities to sustain history OUTSIDE universities. If we can’t employ people in higher ed to train future generations of public historians, we will not have future generations of public historians. 🗃️

I haven’t given any $ to a Democratic campaign in years. Haven’t felt they’d know what to do with it. I could however see giving to candidates who explicitly map out how they’d destroy the Supreme Court.
