The interesting yet disturbing dynamic i keep seeing on social media is the racist riots and pogroms in the North are fundamentally occurring - and being coordinating - in Loyalist areas and they are being cheered on by racists from the Republic of Ireland, not nationalists from the North.
Case in point. The BBC right now focusing on supposed linkages between migration and national security rather than on the real issues: racist attacks, far right agitators, tactical use of one violent episode to inflame tensions in Belfast

We also need our media to accept their role in getting us to this point and act differently from now on, telling readers what this means rather than either a sanitised version of that or - worse - framings that fuel more of this.

There are, in my view, 25 things everyone needs to understand in light of recent events: 1) Those out in our communities last night were not protestors, but organised far right extremists. 2) Their actions align with fascist ideologies. 3) So yes: these are fascist practices on our streets. 🧵
25) If they do not start making different choices, this escalation cycle will continue as the trajectory of it is baked in now. At the end of this can only lie specific types of outcomes. Democracy is not one of them.
23) New dynamics, e.g. on X and the impact of AI, make this more complex overall, but we have always had the knowledge for different choices. 24) Most of our political leaders are choosing not to make these different choices even though the are available to them - that is why we are where we are.

British far-right are travelling to Belfast en masse in a feeding frenzy of hate. Tommy Robinson associate Danny "Tommo" Thomas was posting from Stansted en route. That Britain is stirring hate and division, even from Parliament but not stopping violent far-right travelling here - says it all.
TUV + DUP politicians were on BBC radio blaming the horrific attack in Belfast on an "alien culture". When there are e.g. racist attacks on the Shankill, politicians from those same parties always make the point that only the individuals involved are to blame and not representative of a community
From the sentencing remarks of a High Court Judge in Belfast not even a week ago: “a brutal and frenzied attack that involved the use of a knife”, so complex that state pathology couldn’t determine the fatal sequence. “Almost half of murders in NI recent years have a domestic abuse motivation.”
