We want you to know that your experiences are seen, your courage is recognised, and your right to safety, dignity, and peaceful living is shared by us wholeheartedly.

Our communities understand what it means to be targeted, to be spoken about rather than spoken with, and to have our lives shaped by forces outside our control.

We recognise the strength it takes to stand together, to protect one another, and to insist on fairness even when the spotlight feels heavy.
Your commitment to community wellbeing, mutual care, and the protection of your homes echoes the values that LGBTQ+ people have relied on for generations.

We stand with you because solidarity is not symbolic — it is practical, lived, and necessary.

When one community is pressured, all communities who have known discrimination feel that weight.

When one community insists on its right to live without intimidation, all of us benefit from that example.

Your stance strengthens the wider fabric of equality and justice across the North.

Today, Causeway Pride and Mams4TransNI stand in solidarity with the people of Garvaghy Road.

For decades, this community has lived with the consequences of the Drumcree dispute. Whatever someone's views on parading, tradition or identity, we cannot lose sight of the people who live there and the impact that these disputes have had on their homes, their families and their sense of safety.

We believe communities deserve to be listened to.
Not reduced to a legal argument.
Not expected to simply endure another cycle of confrontation while institutions struggle to find a lasting solution and play political chicken with one another.

Pride exists because marginalised communities have repeatedly had to say: listen to us. Our lives matter. Our voices matter. Our right to feel safe matters.

That principle goes beyond our LGBTQIA+ communities

Northern Ireland was promised a future beyond the conflicts of the past.
We owe EVERY community the chance to experience that future.

Today, our solidarity is with the people of Garvaghy Road.

jon ronson has written a book about men who go crazy online and he's dedicated an entire chapter to graham linehan. graham is not going to like the observer review.

Ronson’s account of Graham Linehan is another harrowing tale of a man’s life ruined by the internet. Linehan was a beloved comedy writer, co-creator of Father Ted, and a prolific presence on Twitter, where he was well liked and respected. Then, in 2013, something began to shift, when an episode of his sitcom The IT Crowd, first broadcast in 2008, was repeated. In it, a man discovers his girlfriend is transgender and a brawl breaks out between the two. Viewers did not like the display of violence nor the supposed implication that the trans woman was “really” a man, underlying maleness bursting forth uncontrollably once she is angry.

Linehan responded to criticism with polite bafflement, then defensiveness, and finally overt anger. He began to research transgender issues and developed a singular obsession with the topic, which has since gone on to comprehensively destroy his career and personal life. Linehan, who believes trans activism and indeed ordinary trans existence pose an existential threat to women, talks of little else (except, these days, a fervent pro-Israel stance). He tweets near-constantly, cloaking his obsession with supposed concern for the wellbeing of cisgender women, but he does not balk at aggressively insulting those women who disagree with him.

Linehan’s self-ignited ruin stopped being satisfying for even his opponents to watch a while back, and now is only profoundly depressing. Ronson was once a good friend, but in refusing to endorse Linehan’s beliefs about transgender issues, he was added to his long list of his enemies. In The Castle, Ronson speaks to him directly, having been attacked countless times on Linehan’s social media feed. One thing that becomes clear, beyond the truly abject state of Linehan’s wellbeing, is that he is able to persevere with his campaign because he has convinced himself he is battling the greatest danger currently at play in the world. At one point he suggests that there are so many fewer serial killers nowadays because all the sociopaths have migrated to the internet in order to argue with him about trans issues instead. It reminded me of religious protesters screaming at me in Dublin once, as I walked into a reproductive-rights clinic that provided information about abortion. I was furious, but then forced myself to think about how I would feel or act if I truly, earnestly believed that every abortion is equivalent to the murder of a child. That might, indeed, drive me mad.

The Linehan chapter is brilliant: insightful, candid and moving. I’m still not convinced that any broader crisis of masculinity or male purpose had much to do with Linehan’s downfall, though. He wasn’t at a loss or empty of purpose when he began his campaign. He didn’t turn to vitriol because he didn’t have anything else to do. His case is, if anything, notable for involving a man with an enviable life and abundant success throwing it away for reasons that to many in the outside world may seem obscure or deranged.

deeply disturbing.

Jon Burrows drew a “red line” over puberty blockers and opposition to Northern Ireland participating in the Pathways trial. Nesbitt admits that the trial was the price of securing the execs support.

The healthcare of trans young people became a political bargaining chip.

And when the Health Minister tried to act within his brief, he was apparently expected to fall in line with the Leader’s political agenda or fall on his sword.

This is not how healthcare should work.

Young people’s lives are not party policy. Clinical decisions should not be made to satisfy political “red lines”. And evidence-based healthcare should never be sacrificed to protect a politician’s ideological position.

Mike Nesbitt has resigned.
But the questions his letter raises remain.

Jon Burrows may have won his red line. Trans young people are the ones left standing on it.

We will not be silent while politicians turn our
healthcare into a political battlefield.
