I prefer to frame this as "transitioning will make you less sad". It removes many sources of dysphoria, which feels like breaking free of shackles you didn't even know you had. But that's only the first step - to move further, you need to take that foundation and build a new life for yourself.

People get demoralized when transitioning when they discover that beyond the initial identification of "the problem," transitioning itself will not make you happy. What it provides is the POSSIBILITY for happiness by allowing you to more easily participate in romance, community and self-improvement
