Moves like Mr.Bean Portland, ME

I’m not sure people appreciate how radical this is. A pro-active process to inform locals when there is a cruise ship health risk. No other port to my knowledge has done this. It is why @portcruisecontrol.bsky.social exists. Never would have happened without @wespelletier.bsky.social ⚓️💙⚓️

The 2027 cruise schedule includes 102 cruise ships. 26 days with 2 ships at once. Some days the floating cities will reach almost 10k population. No restriction on fuel. No decrease in air pollution. No elimination of scrubber wash contaminants in Casco Bay. Is this what Portland wants?

Butler’s 34-year military career spans the Spanish-American War in 1898 through WWI. He rose through all commissioned ranks from Second Lieutenant to Major General. He received 16 medals and was one of only two Marines to be awarded the Medal of Honor twice for separate military actions. /2

Butler received his first Medal of Honor for bravery during the U.S. occupation of Veracruz. During intense urban combat, he braved sniper fire and street-to-street fighting, moving openly through the city to clear out enemy positions. He tried to return the medal but the Secretary of the Navy ordered him to wear it. His second Medal of Honor was for action during the Battle of Fort Rivière, Haiti. Butler led the charge through a heavily fortified stronghold, engaged in brutal hand-to-hand combat and successfully defeated rebel resistance fighters. Photo credit: USMC Archives.

The Freedom Fuel stations were put together by a pair of serial grifters who stole $667,000 worth of gas from a distributor five years ago, a private credit sponsor, and an energy trader tied up in multiple Trump schemes and profiting heavily off the war in Iran. prospect.org/2026/07/20/k...

How can Freedom Fuel afford to sell gas for $3.47 a gallon? That’s the wrong question to ask.

I understand the Platner campaign’s logic in withdrawing from the 5 scheduled debates, yet this move cuts short important policy discussions and conversations and shortchanges Maine voters, most of whom haven’t fully focused on June’s primary election. I hope he’ll reconsider #MEpolitics
