It also really fucking annoys me that we are still having debates about whether this or that animal is actually sentient after millennia of living and working and functioning in groups and individually at really high cognitive levels while having to accept that autocorrect is a higher form of life

my wife has a friend who sent Dolly Parton a painting she made & a letter explaining how much Dolly's music meant to her while she was transitioning. Dolly responded to it personally & paid for her top surgery. Sounds like an urban legend but it's real. I think we're going to more stories like this.

One of the worst unpopular opinions I have ever seen on here. Can subtitles be improved? Absolutely. (The John’s Wick use them brilliantly, fyi.) Does their existence ruin the act of watching non-English language films? Not at all!

I have an unpopular opinion that has never not felt justified. Subtitles for foreign language films are bad. If I wanted to read, I would read. I watch a movie to Observe the Image. Purists claim dubs ruin the intended effect as if it's preferable to spend 2 hours looking at 10% of the screen.
