Sunday working (student facing stuff) along to soundtracks: So far - Koyaanisqatsi The Changes Children of the Stones Chernobyl Lined up - Arrival Rollerball Blade Runner I don't know what this says about me apart from the bliss of working in isolation in ropey times.

At primary school we were all ushered into the hall for an impromptu assembly. Our unbelievably strict head teacher stood in furious silence for a good five minutes. He then said "SOMEONE has done a CRAP on the boys bathroom floor and I WANT to know WHO it was." (it wasn't me)

Bizarre things that happened in your assembly: A neighbour of one of the teachers gave us a five-minute lecture about kwashiorkor which involved him reciting a list of his favourite words (yes, ‘kwashiorkor’ was one of them). Included the unforgettable phrase, “Diarrhoea, another beautiful word.”

Not long after 31.08.97, I was in a record shop in Nottingham and they were playing something stupid, funny and near-sacrilegious. Asking what it was, they got a copy from literally under the counter. It was Cassetteboy's debut 7" Di + Dodi Do Die. Utterly infantile but brilliant.

Farewell today to the high priestess of polka dots, Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama (1929-2026). Her work was unforgettable and for her, a means to survival. It’s playful, psychedelic, compulsive, beautiful and slightly unsettling all at once. Into infinity and beyond Yayoi! 🔴🟡⚫️
