Sometimes I'm like "I'm pretty average at my job" until I do some community work and try to help someone with their project and then I'm like, uhm I actually seem to be kind of an expert. I mean it should go without saying after like 12 years of doing this but apparently my brain doesn't agree.
My kid has a music class and every week the teacher tries to send the same blonde kid home w me. And every week I’m like “that’s not my kid”. Then she starts looking for my (mixed race) kid’s mom everywhere until I’m like “yes hello I am indeed still her white mom just like last week”
Did a talk about building a WebSockets server in PHP and encouraged people to contribute to Ratchet (a WS library in PHP), and a guy came up afterwards to ask for advice on how to make his first contribution to OSS. He just messaged me with a link to his first PR (it's for Ratchet) 🥹

Any time I’m out by myself people will ask me “where’s your kid right now?” with this puzzled look as if she doesn’t have a dad she lives with half the time I’ve taken to telling them I left her to roam the streets by herself. Sometimes they believe me for a few seconds.
