Because Amazon takes months to pay authors. They sit on our money longer than, I believe, any other platform. If the book is on Itch or DriveThruRPG, get it there - we can cash out on those platforms any time. Direct from the author is also a good option. But failing that, anyone but Amazon.
Okay, so...I post this every now and then. If an independent author you like is saying they don't have money for groceries/editing/a conference/whatever and need it quickly and you decide to buy their next book to help them out: Unless they're exclusive to Amazon, don't buy from Amazon. Why?
