The second (and much longer) chapter of my Willow origin story for @bg3fatespinsalong.bsky.social is up! 💜✨ In this one, we gain a deeper understanding of who Willow was when she first left home — young, innocent, and desperately lacking in the street smarts she will someday come to have. #GGGBfics

“I could take you back home,” he suggests, waving a hand in the air. There’s a sudden shift in his tone — something less displeased. “Or, I could take you to a bigger city, like ya said.”

Willow shakes her head, just once. “I don’t have any more—”

“I’m not asking for gold,” he says, quieter than anything else. Not that it would matter — Willow can’t hear a single soul around them. It’s early morning, nearly an entire day since she left her home, and no one is bustling about this part of Daggerford yet. Maybe Daggerford is never bustling, because Willow was basing her daydreams off of the city’s name alone.

“Shame we already passed Baldur’s Gate,” the driver continues, unabashed by Willow’s silence. “You’d be better off. But I wouldn’t mind taking a girl like you back around. S’long as you entertain me on the way.”

Willow’s Guide to Starting Over 💜 — my piece for @bg3fatespinsalong.bsky.social The tarot card I chose to represent Willow’s origin story is the Wheel of Fortune 🔮 (1/2) archiveofourown.org/works/864526...

Maybe Willow didn’t have to muck stalls forever. Maybe she could be something more.

The day she left was the day she decided to test that theory.

Willow was seventeen when she grew tired of her father’s hand, harsh against her face and tight around his hunting crop. The older she became, the harder she found it to keep her mouth shut when she needed to, and she knew that if she didn’t leave, she would soon push him an inch too far. Willow couldn’t predict what would happen when she did that, but she knew that the farm animals who made him just a shred too sore ended up as bones beneath the grazing fields. She didn’t want to join them.
