£324million lost to fraud, zero prosecutions and 250,000+ deaths. But according to Gove, simply mistakes were made. A mistake is pushing a pull door, or using the wrong homophone, not mismanaging millions, and causing needless deaths.
The latest Covid Inquiry report omitted a chapter on PPE Medpro, Baroness Michelle Mone, and her husband due to ongoing criminal investigations. But what happened with all the other allegations around PPE contracts? 1/8 🧵

The man who was the most senior civil servant at the Dept of Health & Social Care advocated ‘chicken pox parties’ in March 2020 has been awarded a peerage. Covid inquiry found that he ‘obscured reality & the need for more action.’ Not happy. @cbffjuk.bsky.social
It is shocking that Chris Wormald has been given a peerage. Wormald was singled out by the Covid Inquiry for having 'obscured reality' during the pandemic. He was at the heart of the failures that cost the lives of our loved ones. Why has he been rewarded for that failure?
This is the man who "obscured reality", when the reality is people died because of Tory failures, my Dad being one of them. And now he's been rewarded for that. To say I'm not happy is the understatement of the year!

👀 Read impt covid inquiry report findings on UK Govt ‘VIP lane’ used to procure PPE frm people with political connections incl friend of Michael Gove’s who ran a fashion company. PPE bought through VIP lane was of poorer quality & higher cost. @lawrencedunhill.bsky.social @cbffjuk.bsky.social
The Covid-19 Inquiry has today released its findings on Module 5, including the ‘VIP Lane’, which enabled suppliers with political connections to win huge PPE contracts during the pandemic 🧵1/
The lack of adequate PPE for key workers & care users was one of the most glaring failures of the pandemic. Key findings here from the first chapter of the Covid-19 Inquiry’s Module 5 report - which was published this week & covered emergency procurement & distribution 🧵1/

My Dad was a London bus driver who contracted Covid and died, because he had no PPE or modifications on his bus. So it breaks my heart to have it confirmed that £10bn was wasted on PPE that was not fit for purpose. How many deaths could have been avoided had the Conservatives used proper channels.

Today is an incredible moment for the Hillsborough families who fought so long and hard for the Hillsborough Law. We are proud to have stood alongside them as part of the Hillsborough Law Now coalition. Their legacy will be a more just society.

Very pleased to give bereaved families’ statement following publication today of #covidinquiry report into procurement. Lays bare the corruption & cronyism that led to avoidable deaths, incl my mum’s, & wasted billions of public £. @cbffjuk.bsky.social www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

Today I am back in London for the Covid Inquiry as the report on Procurement will be published. Unfortunately some of the report will remain secret while we all wait for the NCA to complete its (6 year?) investigation into Medpro. A reminder of some of the key points:
The Hillsborough Law is finally set to be approved by MPs. A big step towards creating a fairer society where the scales of justice are more evenly balanced. What an incredible legacy for the Hillsborough Families and all those who have campaigned to reach this moment.
Rupert Lowe MP told Joe Rogan, on his podcast, that he was a “pure blood” for refusing a Covid vaccine. Vaccines saved 14m+ lives globally in their first year. Covid death rates were 32x higher in unvaccinated people. Lowe’s dangerous conspiracy theories put lives at risk.
Next Tuesday, one of the most anticipated Covid Inquiry reports is published, covering the tragic consequences of the Govt’s procurement failures. This will include the infamous ‘VIP lane’ which enabled politically connected individuals to make enormous profits. 1/11 🧵
The BBC reports Baroness Mone is among the individuals being sued as part of efforts to recover PPE Medpro millions. £122m plus interest was awarded to the government after the firm breached its contract. The public deserves every penny back. bbc.co.uk/news/article... 1/2

Our members Hayley and her daughter Terri were interviewed by BBC Radio Manchester today about our campaign for a Covid memorial in Manchester. Manchester City Council have responded by saying they have planted trees. Not good enough. Our loved ones deserve a proper memorial. 1/2
Thousands died across Greater Manchester and the North West. More than 6 years later, Manchester still has no dedicated Covid memorial. Sign our petition calling on Manchester leaders to deliver one: c.org/sB4xs54kCY They must never be forgotten.
