I started using em dashes the first time I went to college, and I will never stop using them. "bUt OnLy Ai UsEs eM dAsHeS," you say. "Get fucked," I say. "You can pry these em dashes from my cold dead hands—but good luck once the rigor sets in."
I really HATE the word "slightly." Stop minimizing every action, every expression, every sound, every feeling! Let your characters have totality! Let them lean in fully, let them shift & squirm & moan & groan & love & hate w/ all they are. Let them experience more than "slightly"
