The idea of a pristine wilderness untouched by man is a myth and folly. The ecological devastation of Colonialism and it's extractionary nature can never be overstated.
When colonization came to call in the US, many folks wrote about america as a pristine Eden whose forest were filled with delights and bounty. This was because indigenous folk (Like mine) built up food forest. Things that were razed and destroyed as a part of racist violence. Colonization is ongoing
