I feel undesired, dismissed, adrift My get-up-and-go is long gone And the days keep dragging on But we’ve got Arab Strap… @arabstrap.scot

Done in about five minutes to avoid overthinking (and I’m already regretting missing out Big Black’s ATOMISER!) but these all fit the brief. #my9albums

If anyone’s at a loose end in the Kingdom on Sunday… Just sorting out some choice eighties synthpop 7”s for this myself.
Tonight when the lights are going down I will surrender to the sound Tonight the sound is breaking like a wave Wish it could always feel this way And life will never be the same…
The Pastels doing some songs for adults in support of Saint Etienne at the Barras.
Treating bluesky as confessional, though if you know us the admission below won’t surprise you. Steve's description of this 1987 EP ("endearingly/exhilaratingly amateurish") is perfect. A quick thread of adoration for this band...
Wow. This remains probably my favourite record of all time! (I later realised it substantially channels “Something To Do” by Buba & the Shop Assistants, which only adds to its greatness) They also did 2 other ace tunes which landed on Subway comp LPs at the time.
Had half an hour to kill in Perth railway station at lunch, so had a bit of a wander around.
As a fan of Smoky Peaty Whisky, am rather enjoying this Smoky Peaty Ale from those fine folk at the Isle of Skye Brewing Company. #NowDrinking

Have reached the (st)age where holidays often feature a rummage in a second hand bookshop, and I refuse to apologise for this :-)
Something that might of interest to anyone near Kirkcaldy later in the month An evening of cosmic country / indiefolk guitar from the ex-member of esteemed alt.rock combos Silver Jews and Lambchop. #MusicSky
Essential Scottish Summer Holiday packing, four different thicknesses of waterproof coat :-)
Just preordered this, they’re always a cracking listen.

It’s Finn’s sixth birthday today so he’s had his favourite treat, a whole piece of toast with peanut butter (because he has very basic tastes) for breakfast and in true Labrador style immediately started trying to scrounge some of mine :-)
Mogwai still sounding thunderously loud even having relocated to a minimum safe distance. Must still sound like The End Times Are Upon Us to anyone within about six miles, even accounting for the fact that we’re next to the airport!
Aw, that’s nice. Rachel came over to our side of the stage to say hello near the end of the excellent @slowdiveofficial.bsky.social set at Summer Sesssions this afternoon :-)
The MiniGoths in the crowd are looking confused & traumatised by 21st Century Schizoid Man at high volume. As well they might be. Surely special permission is needed to be playing King Crimson in a built up area?
On the bus into Edinburgh with both ends of The Cure’s fanbase. Grizzled veterans reminiscing about 80s gigs in fleapits while getting perplexed prodding at the StageCoach app. Fresh faced youngsters discussing having researched Slowdive & that “I like that one ‘Dagger’, it’s my Dad’s favourite”.
OK, what’s gone wrong with the weather? Fairly sure I ordered overcast, cool and with a light breeze for watching The Cure / Mogwai / Slowdive / Just Mustard later in Edinburgh.
Off to the Highlands and Islands for a couple of weeks shortly, and the weather forecast seems to feature rain pretty heavily, so thought I’d better stock up on some holiday reading (while ignoring the existing piles of unread stuff…) #HolidayReads #NowReading
