Re: Brubaker, Ellis, etc. Good work is good work. I don't feel duped for having bought and enjoyed good stories. HOWEVER, good work is not unique. And let it be known that producing good work does not allow for bad behavior. It is also not a shield that will prevent someone from kicking your ass.

....... I've seen a couple of bits on Instagram of a guy who did a Jamaican accent in his 101 show and is so very very sorry about it and I'm like... Very cynical about it all. This feels like a grab for attention more than anything.
While I acknowledge that it's artistically and historically interesting to perform a piece of music a semitone down, as it would have been in the 18th century, I genuinely cannot tell the difference. Now I got slightly worried because of all the people gushing about it in the comments of the video.

Interesting updates! My Dad, who does a lot of work on our own family tree, applied his skills to finding out more about Violet Ross. Through service and medical records in the National Archives, he was able to discover that Forewoman Violet Ross actually survived the war itself.
Chris Lau Manson 阿劉@chrislaumanson.bsky.social · 3d agoSo here's something - on the war memorial in Inveraray, there is a recording of one Sgt. Violet Ross, WAAC, killed in action. I don't think I've ever seen a woman's name recorded on a war memorial before, and it makes me wonder why.
Right folks, woke up a smidge later than I had wanted to 👀 Not a bad thing though, really just trying to get well-reated before uni starts! Gonna grab some breakfast then we'll kick off Friday Art Stream about 11 or so!
