The true tragedy is I work at a major Canadian university and nobody is speaking of Anne Carson in my office. Meanwhile this should be a national holiday
I met Anne Carson once and I literally could not speak so this tracks with the level of award I would give to her
Breaking News: The Nobel Prize in Literature was awarded to the Canadian poet and essayist Anne Carson. nyti.ms/4yCUebH
Peter is not on here to let you know that he has discovered a long lost son and today I arranged for him to travel back home and live with us full-time. He's a bit strange but you can't deny the family resemblance. I can't wait to welcome him to our home as raise him as my own. @peterbcounter.com
Have been enjoying TMNZ while continuing to avoid TM S22 and I'm starting to think Paul Williams is a better Taskmaster's Assistant than Alex Horne
Jon Ronson's THE CASTLE is so fucking good. That is all. @jonronson.bsky.social
This is the first taskmaster since I became a fan (so like five years) that I haven't cared. I'm not even watching. Thursdays mean nothing to me. It's very sad!

I came up with some more inane bullshit for everyone to argue about!
Sorry but casting Helen Mirren as Pat Highsmith is actually so offensive to lesbians
I love TMNZ so much, I love Abby Howells so much
soothing my Taskmaster disappointment by watching the New Zealand version instead
I'm trying to non-algorithmically find things to read on the Internet lately and am pleased to have found this wonderful piece by @johnsemley3000.bsky.social ! It hit perfectly for me between a Six Feet Under series watch and a seasonal program of SFX-heavy movies. harpers.org/archive/2026...

Catching up on Jeopardy Masters and I just want to say no matter the result I love my Durham Region girl Juveria. My homie.
I grew up with this and loved it more than anything as a kid, and as a young adult, but if I were to support it now it would hurt not just the world at large, not just trans ppl in general, but my very own trans friends personally. So I let it go. It was an easy choice! Fix your hearts.
A lot of folks enthusing about how much their kids enjoy HP. As an adult survivor of conversion therapy and a former trans child (current trans adult) I find it absolutely chilling how much cis people don’t give a shit about our suffering and deaths. Worse, I do not expect better from them.
this moody lil 14 year old finally got to see iron maiden over two decades later, but it was awesome
Got my dad Iron Maiden tickets for Christmas and the concert is tomorrow (my birthday).
My toxic trait is I think the Canadian Shield in eastern Ontario is more beautiful than the mountains in the western provinces
I realize I said "does" here but I was blinded by grief ok
It's sad enough when an icon does, but when the grim reaper comes for the subject of your banner picture... devastating

In my defense, I was eight and my musician dad wanted to go to a music store so he brought me and said "pick something out." I thought they were funny.
44 years ago today, the first CD was produced. What is the first CD you owned?
I miss living in Halifax but one thing I am relieved to be rid of is the constant pressure to go to the beach during the two months it is summer there! I always had a job! I never had time! I don't like sand! I was not on vacation! The ocean is weird! I like swimming but the pressure was immense!
When your parents catch you ogling split diopter shots and make you smoke the whole pack:
I am home sick watching My Big Fat Greek Wedding. I resent that this takes place in "Chicago" when it was clearly filmed on the Danforth. I don't know how Chicago's Greek scene is, but if the producers had let it take place on the Danforth, maybe Toula wouldn't have felt so alienated!!!
I must return to the fake twitter to report that I am currently drinking the worst latte I've ever had. It was made by a team of baristas who were loudly singing a song from Hamilton, then switched to a country song. I believe I accidentally went to the starbucks in downtown Hell. That is all.
re: The Odyssey, I was really excited for the Hades sequence but feeling quite disappointed now that Nolan decided to cut Skelly. Although now I'm wondering if maybe John Leguizamo is Skelly and just hasn't died yet? Idk, it really took me out of it...
I have to go to England next week without my emotional support extravert... what am I gonna talk to people about

A study of life cycles. Made about and in memory of my mother-in-law, Trudy Counter (1959-2025), who wanted to live long enough to see spring bloom. Thank you to Jan Peacock for guidance. VHS-C fo...
