Our UNU policy brief is out, building on our peer-reviewed paper. Vaccine readiness needs fair allocation, strong delivery systems, and genomic surveillance that supports timely data sharing without penalising early reporting. PB: unu.edu/publication/... Paper: www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....

Best Practices in Global Vaccination Roll-Out to Reduce Health Inequity

Lessons from COVID-19 vaccine roll-out and an equity-by-design framework for fairer, faster access to vaccines in future health emergencies.

🧑‍🔬PhD Opportunity! Together with @mghafari.bsky.social (Oxford uni) we're advertising an exciting PhD project on exploring the deep evolutionary and structural conservation of viral antigen proteins, through @pasteur.fr 's prestigious PPU program! Apply here: ppu.pasteur.fr

A long time in the making, and exciting to finally see this work published. We show how the PoW model resolves evolutionary events across vastly different timescales, from the origins of HIV-1 and HIV-2 lineages, through the deeper history of SIVs, to the ancient split between SIV and pSIV and more.

Completed our work on reconstructing the viral histories of human, simian and prosimian immunodeficiency viruses across multiple evolutionary timescales, with @mghafari.bsky.social & @psimmond.bsky.social royalsocietypublishing.org/rspb/article...

Trying to make sense of the unfolding Hantavirus outbreak from molecular sequence data. Many caveats apply; this is just a post on a blog, not a peer reviewed research paper, but is our attempt to make sense of the data so far and help out. All subject to revision etc.
