I have a tiny cut on my forehead that is absolutely pissing blood for no reason and all I can think about is Randy Feltface's bookshelf story.

Casually Thanos snapping 15 more pages from draft one out of existence.

After finally fixing a royal editing fuck up, I can now move past the first 50 pages in draft 2. God, let me write book two soon.

Guess I'm gonna have to give these absolute GOATs a relisten this week. RIP Justin Richards.

There's a learning curve to this draft two thing. Very different process from draft 1.

And so, Draft 2 begins. Revised the prologue this evening, cut the second chapter completely. Tomorrow we restructure and insert some new scenes to bridge the gap.

Current readings. Both murder mysteries with medieval set dressing. Total opposite ends of the literary spectrum.

Only a week and a half until draft two begins.

This interim project is proving much more difficult. The book was outlined. I'm just pantsing this one to see which method I prefer.

Started a shorter and (hopefully) less demanding writing project last night, more in the along the lines of an anthology series similar to Sherlock Holmes. Trying to determine whether this first one will be short story or novella is proving difficult at this early stage.

Draft 1 of the book is officially complete.

We are at over a 100,000 words.

And so the final chapter of draft one begins.

I guess I should quote this too. I'm on an episode of a comic book podcast in a couple of hours. If you've read Injustice Gods Among Us Year One and you've got any questions, fire away and then tune in when it's out.

First major bit of progress in nearly a week. Cranked out about 10 more pages this weekend. Hope to keep up the pace throughout the week. We'll see though.

My writing playlist currently consists of music by Blue Öyster Cult and... that's it. It's just Blue Öyster Cult.

Ready to be done with this draft so I can work on something else for a little bit. I'm proud of what I've accomplished so far, but it's messy, and needs some time to rest so I can look at it with fresh eyes. I also just want a break, much as I love writing for these characters. 😅

For what inspired today's current writings see "The Hobbit" Chapter XII: Inside Information, beginning on page 213 of the 2025 hardback edition illustrated by Alan Lee.

Writing scenes so messed up that you inflict psychological damage on yourself isn't something I believed was possible, but here we are.

At page 250 in my book, the goblins do be spit roasting a now dead and previously prominent character.
