Anti-trans voices are often certain that they’re right, and that can help convince others to join their cause. They have compelling stats to explain why trans people are so dangerous and misguided. The problem? Those stats and figures come from flawed studies and intentionally misleading surveys.

The same week that the UK enacted policies that will force teachers to out trans kids to parents even when that might not be safe, the US Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against a Kansas school district for not forcibly outing trans kids.

Things are getting heated over on Facebook, where a couple of my posts have blown up with hundreds of comments. There’s a lot of anti-trans hate happening in there. But I’m heartened by the amount of pro-trans comments and the pushback in hate happening in there as well.

The anti-trans campaigns operate differently, but their foundational forces are the same. Whether it’s the Heritage Foundation and the Alliance Defending Freedom, or Sex Matters and JK Rowling, they’re putting pressures to give power to a hateful and vocal minority against marginalized people.

The UK has a new Prime Minister who has supported trans rights in the past and promised a politics of "change." But over a month into his tenure, we've seen horrific anti-trans guidance take effect without comment from the PM and there's not sign that he will stand up for the trans community.

Earlier this year, @transparentaction.bsky.social surveyed families of trans kids, created a full report, and sent it to the government to encourage new guidance to protect trans students. The government never responded, and are about to enact policies that will hurt trans and non-binary children.
