If this place is gonna thrive ultimately it has to open up and go public. You don’t want a tightly curated cloister, you want a public square where everyone spends their time and then you ruthlessly police the limits of acceptable speech once it’s indispensably popular

Also I understand dissuading dunking on randos, but one of Twitter's strengths was an open forum/minimal gatekeeping, so (e.g.) NYT columnists and gov't propagandists couldn't spout bullshit unchecked. Musk is killing twitter partly to eliminate that, and it would be cool to have it again somewhere.

One of the biggest signals of the draw of Twitter is that I remember there was I think an American foreign fighter at Baghuz, ISIS' last stand in Syria, literally being bombarded with airstrikes every hour on the hour in a space smaller than Vatican City and he was still posting regularly

Honestly, kind of reassuring to see Elon completely destroy twitter. Like, he had the ultimate tool for fascist propaganda and misinformation, but he couldn’t help but fatally wound it, because fascists are driven by psychopathology, not rational optimization

Back on twitter I have literally hundreds of transphobes in my mentions because I ratio’d Aimee Terese. Here, people are talking about lunch. Please put groupchats in this app so I never have to go back to twitter 😭

i wrote about bluesky, black twitter, and sex work bluesky has an opportunity to be better than twitter ever was by establishing *early* protections for the marginalized communities that shape its culture also got "tiddies on the skyline" published on techcrunch dot com https://tcrn.ch/3AKNufA

For Bluesky to thrive, it needs sex workers and Black Twitter

If Bluesky wants to be a genuine rival to Twitter, it needs to protect sex workers and its Black community.
