Mostly interested in animals, video games, and books/comics. And art, though I don't draw much these days. :( Felted Salishar in my usericon by Snowfox102 of Dragon Keep Creations!

You've seen fireworks that look like jellyfish, but what about a jellyfish that looks like fireworks? The E/V Nautilus filmed this rare Halitrephes maasi jellyfish glowing like a firework at a depth of 4,019 feet (1,225 meters) off the coast of Baja California, Mexico. (📷: Ocean Exploration Trust)

Chris Moore was a giant of book cover art. Perhaps a bit less well known than the other Chris (Foss), Moore’s covers dominated the sci-fi section of bookshops while I was growing up in the 70s and 80’s

Ron Cobb was a genius of speculative and production design, his work taught me so much about how every design decision matters. You will have seen his work. I think about this alien design regularly from Star Wars. He says so much in such a small amount of text.

An image of a Star Wars alien and a ship, in a pencil technical drawing style. The alien is one that is seen in the mos eisley cantina. The text reads:
AQUATIC AIR BREATHER
 (AMPHIBIAN)
 Feeds by passing plankton
 bearing water through
 mouth slits and out
 lower neck openings.
 Brain is in lower neck
 hump.
 Speaks through implanted
 transmitter to external
 voice box on chest.
 Very gentle. Has a religion
 based on the tying and
 untying of knots in cords.

Fat Horse No. 12 It’s the year of the horse and I’ve always been a horse girl at heart, so I’m taking advantage of the excuse to fill the world with fat little horses! These felted friends are the size (and shape!) of an apple, and if you have any apples to share I’m sure they’d help you out!

Astrophotographer Adam (AJ) Smadi caught this image a few hours ago from Washington state. A thin crescent Moon, sunlight illuminating the rugged lunar surface. And 2,400 times farther away—and on the other side of the Sun—mighty Jupiter, and its moons Io (left) and Ganymede (right).

A crescent Moon seen during the day, arcing from upper left to lower right of the frame. At lower centre is the full disk of Jupiter; the small dots to its upper left and lower right and Io and Ganymede, respectively.
