And anyway, winning the Sweet Lit Poetry Contest was 'sweet' for many reasons, including how learning to play with the duplex form taught me that, pardon the cliche, it's still possible to teach an old dog new tricks. (my actual old dog has recovered well from the neuritis that prompted it!)

Thrilled to share that a duplex I wrote inspired by my dog's bout with neuritis last fall won 1st place in the Sweet Lit Poetry Contest! I'm beyond grateful to judge Meghan Sterling & the Sweet editors (including @katierpoet.bsky.social !) Good news always feels so fleeting, but I'm savoring this.
