I'm 300 pages into this giant book and it is so good and weird. I usually run out of steam with huge books, but every scene and moment in this is fascinating to me.

The reason people like AI writing more than human writing (this includes awards committees and prestige lit mag editors) is because people like bad writing. Lots of flowery language that doesn't say anything? Adjectives that don't make sense? That's art! I don't understand this so it must be great!
I saw a writer on Instagram talking about how she "only uses AI to correct her grammar and spelling." Girl, you suck. Grammar is part of your writing toolbox, and you should try to learn about it if you care about the written word. You're lazy and you suck.

AI is not good at writing books, but it's probably excellent at writing a collection of tropes that whip a certain stripe of agent and editor into a frenzy of greed.

It's so weird how excited about my new in progress novel I am, how much I love the idea, and yet can't concentrate on it for more than 5 mins.
There's character in my novel (which is currently on sub) who is losing his mind, and in one very surreal moment which includes a hoard of rats, he thinks something like: "how had he not put himself in front of every terrible thing in the world" to stop it? And that's how I feel.
today’s mood: Things are gonna get worse before they get worse.

The frustration of listening to these yahoos talk to Faucci as if their opinions are those of the American people. We know that Faucci tried to help us. We know the truth. We are unsafe because of these fascists scolding him.
Book bans, book destruction, increasingly pricey subscriptions to download or stream, they are all the means to the same end--control.
With the news that AI companies are buying up and then destroying old books to feed into their theft machines, this is a reminder to keep, and buy if you are able to, physical media. This is just the beginning of how they will try to control from every angle what you read, watch, listen to...
