🧵 Happy Birthday Thelonious and Giuseppi Two of my favorite composers share a birthday today: Thelonious Monk (b. 1917) and Giuseppi Verdi (b. 1813). They do not often find themsleves in the same sentence, but that's how I roll.

Even if I didn't write the liner notes for this release (which, in fact, I did), I would highly recommend it to anyone. Fantastic recording.

Great article. I'm usually immediately cynical about claims like "lost masterpiece" or hyperbolic "missing link" or "Holy Grail" labels. But Mark Stryker makes a really good case for why the Tiberi Tapes are worth the hype. It seems like there is some legit new aspects of Trane to hear.

Adverstisements for Myself "Stryker’s vital, incendiary approach is as exciting as a great solo, and the book will be as useful to jazz fans as it will be for relative beginners, or those just interested in finding out more about Detroit.Highly recommended." -- Matt Phillips tinyurl.com/9wekss93
