One of Charlie Parker’s greatest studio sessions took place on this day 73 yrs ago, 7/30/53. Confirmation/Now’s The Time/I Remember You, multiple takes of Chi Chi, an A-flat blues. Billie Holiday, April 7, 1915 – July 17, 1959 THE DAY LADY DIED By Frank O'Hara It is 12:20 in New York a Friday three days after Bastille day, yes it is 1959 and I go get a shoeshine because I will get off the 4:19 in Easthampton at 7:15 and then go straight to dinner

Massachusetts and Rhode Island have the largest Cape Verdean population outside of Cape Verde. The highest concentration is in Brockton, MA— many arriving before the American Revolution with Portuguese ships. RI has big Portuguese population too. The group Tavares is originally from Cape Verde 🎶
