What's notable to me about the Alito-Jackson spat on Monday is how little Alito's opinion bothers with anything resembling legal analysis. He doesn't respond to Jackson, in any meaningful sense. It's just an angry blog post about how she really ought to be more respectful to him.

Samuel Alito Had No Answers For Ketanji Brown Jackson’s Latest Dissent

The more transparently political the Court’s work becomes, the more fiercely the conservative justices insist that there is nothing political about the Court’s work.

“What [Dick Cheney works] to preclude is any acknowledgment that the issue at hand, whether it is avoiding military service or authorizing torture, might have a moral or an ethical or even a self-interested dimension that merits discussion.” —Joan Didion

Cheney: The Fatal Touch | Joan Didion

"Het bed met de gouden poot is tegelijk een ideale introductie tot de Letse cultuur en een tijdloze vertelling die uitnodigt om verder na te denken over hoe de geschiedenis zich misschien niet zozeer herhaalt, als wel steeds gekleurd wordt door ons eigen referentiekader." @removerdickt.bsky.social
