Macklemore just announced he’s donating the $1 million he made from Sheeran’s tour to 6 organizations to support Palestinians and he’s asking Robert Kraft to match it. This is just the first part announcing it.

One of my favourite replicas. The Genius Cucullatus was found at Birdoswald, so he feels a bit like family. A hooded protector with Celtic roots, later embraced across the Roman world and associated with healing and the protection of children. potted-history.co.uk/products/rom... #HadriansWall
Sometimes it's all about asking the really difficult questions.
So the answer to "during his time on earth, did Jesus ever see an armadillo?" is: "the armadillo is nocturnal so it really all depends on what time of day it was when the Devil got round to showing him the Americas."
This really is worth a watch. A mother of mixed-race children in Piddington breaks down when thinking about the bigotry that's been revealed in her village. It's so awful to see how quickly the mask of politeness can fall off to reveal the evil face of racism beneath.
Solidarity with this Piddington resident ♥️✊ #Newsnight
Did you all read the part that just 3 of these companies need to raise the equivalent of 10% of the world's GDP in capital over the next 5 years?

Personally I would not pick this fight with the youtube guy who demonstrates all the ways he can nail you with an arrow at 200 yards using his feet while wearing 12-inch Pleasers, whose wife can also kill you with her bare hands, and has 9 billionteen followers who are all trans women with swords.
Blumineck lo ha vuelto a hacer 🥹 le aplaudo hasta que se me caigan las manos, bravo. "Be masculine, be feminine, be neither, or be both. But be kind."
Nice to see this getting some attention. It's completely true, and I dearly wish more journalists understood where these common narratives about AI actually come from.
The U.S. AI industry is being run by a batshit rationalist sex cult, and no, I am not being hyperbolic - they’re genuinely Like That:
A pack of Dunning-Kruger cases cooking up a Temu Yaldabaoth out of Potter fanfic was much funnier before they achieved ownership of all the main surveillance and communications systems outside of China, took political control of America and fired up the genocide engines.
"Roko's Basilisk" being their particular invented mythological figure of The AI That {they believe] Will Inevitably Rule The World, So You'd Better Start Appeasement Rituals, For It Will Be A Vengeful God just like every other eschatological millenarian sect ... 'rationalist', yeah
Fair play to the wife of a Caribbean man and mother of mixed race children being informed by the BBC reporter that she’s in the minority in her community regarding immigration and responding with, “Yes, I’m surrounded by bigots.”
NO. Dude, that literally NEVER HAPPENS. No industry in America's 250 year has ever self-regulated. Y'all always SAY you will (& GOP politicians fall for it every time), but you NEVER DO. Greed always wins. & I think you know that. *** www.businessinsider.com/zuckerberg-s...

BIG: EU's von der Leyen to Mark Carney: I would like to work with you on opening the door for Canada to be the first associate member of the European Union.
So the answer is not "people will be cruel if expected to" but "more than a quarter, less than a third of people will accept the chance to be cruel to someone in the out-group if urged to do so." Which, shock of shocks, maps to authoritarian mindset percentages and @johnrogers.bsky.social's 27%.
An important thing that people don't often hear about the Stanford Prison Experiment is that only about a third of the guard participants became abusive, and that was after being told that they should act more like guards. (Assuming I'm remembering the You're Wrong About podcast correctly.)
Netflix has announced a new reality series titled ‘THE NEW STANFORD PRISON EXPERIMENT’. The series follows 30 participants who enter a real prison and are randomly assigned as guards or prisoners. They must see if they conform to the roles or if morality wins.
Maybe it was the whole primitive, hateful idea of the feminine as dark, blind, weak, and evil that I saw shaking itself to pieces, imploding, crumbling into wreckage on a desert ground. And I rejoiced to see it fall. I still do.

it's always "fun" to look into the details on these sorts of situations: * This guy cofounded this company out of school and has never had a boss in his entire life. * Notes that he's laid off 20% of the studio every year for the past 6 years * "We want to lean more and more into the gig economy"

Like it's the Anakin problem. Am I still supposed to like him after he murders all the sand people? Are they not people? It's not the story of a good man drawn towards darkness, it's the story of a murderer who finds a vehicle to do more harm.
This is great. You should read it. And because it's my default reaction, I think how this applies to modern Star Trek and its casual attitude to killing and lack of understanding of the audience's changing perception of hero characters after committing these acts. In this essay I shall...

Also btw not working out every detail in advance has the virtue of giving you flexibility as you write. You won't ever be in a position to mourn the months of careful worldbuilding work you did before you started, that now you have to toss or change significantly.
Yeah, you don't gotta work out the nitty gritty of meteorology or agriculture before you start writing. You just need a few things that have connections, or you start with a few things and connect them.
